New Music

Hi everyone, I run a music and sound recording studio here in Oz [Australia of course] and have quite a few long running studio tracks from my archives, similiar in style to the original radio music in Sim city 4. I have never seen any extra music to download on offer before, so i am considering making my music available for download mp3 format of course. It's keyboard [some guitar and samples] based orchestration. I will actually write some new music to go with my cities also. Let me know your interest and IF or WHERE i can upload music here at the exchange or ideas u have.

it is a good idea, but should be in the STEX thread.  A new STEX category would have to be raised, so hopefully this will get on the dirktator's list.

Ok here I am replying to my own message to keep it in the thread...ummm guess that's right lol.

Here are some sample zip files with mp3s. Just some stuff from the studio, hope it works. Couldn't find the info i wanted on posting links etc, but just want to do the right thing by the board.

Don't forget these are copyright and for your own personal use only.

If anyone is interested in getting there own custom music or radio station broadcasts recorded/produced let me know what you want, i might be able to help.

New Music approprite for SimCity is a great idea. I love music and it can get a little repetitive. Thanks for posting some new things to try.

N_O_Body is right, a new STEX catagory would help.... and keep things like this searchable. (of course I still have my wish that the search engine on ST would search descriptions... maybe someday.)

EDIT:  Oh my.... these are really GOOD.  They fit the SimCity theme very well, you weren't kidding.   They are definitely going into my game right now!   (Did you write / perform these?)

Thanks for your inspiring comments, however I must, before continuing, give thanks and full credit to the composers of the original simcity music, as they are the masters. Their music has inspired me to continue building cities.

Yes, I wrote and produced these tracks myself in a digital multitrack studio using, cakewalk midi, adobe [cool edit pro] audition and mastered them. I used synths and electric pianos, and in future will use some cool sound fonts [sound blaster compatible sound samples].  

Unless we have a dedicated stex download to music in the near future,or i can post larger files here, I am planning to upload full versions of some of my tracks to my own website soon, and dedicate the page to games music so you can go and download my work [ free for now...charging money is a whole new thing get's tricky !].

It's kinda my contribution to the Simcity community as I have spent many hours NOT mastering sc4 bulding design ha ha. Better stick to my own talents and use that is, music/sound.

I've uploaded another track, however i am still working on mp3 quality so it's early days.

These are awesome. They are kind of inspirational. They give you a feel for a certain type of city. This last one reminds me of a Kickboxer movie....with van dam. Kind of asian sound to it.

Oh wow, a third song above! Thanks pcmcd. I like how your offerings are similar and fix in with the rest of SimCity 4, yet are NEW and different than the originals.

Kickboxer, that's fantastic! It does have that feel to it, like when he's training at the old temple.

These tracks are outstanding, I have added all three to my folder. This was an aspect of the game that I would have never thought tfor people to add custom content to, but I am glad that you have. I hope you continue this project because it's a great idea and you're doing an outstanding job with it!

Other than all the SC4 + RH songs, and the SC3KU music, I have always had about 30+ other songs that are of the same style, with about half a dozen of those soooo close that you wouldn't even know they weren't from SimCity. (Good stuff.)

Having added these new 3 from this link, its refreshing to have some new sounds that fit.

However, I just realized that the 30+ Ive had for the past 2 years in my Mayor Music directory, at least the half dozen perfect matches, could probably be shared with other SimCity 4 users, since they were free. The music CDs were being handed out free at a store a few years ago. I guess some local artist was trying to get their stuff out, or a promotion to encourage people to shop at that store. Any idea how id know if its legal to share these?

I've found that some music in "Morning SiFi", by "Hybrid", like "Higher than a Skyscraper" works well with simcity. I found it when I entered "Rob Dougan" at "pandora.com".

Hi Cougar, good to hear you like the music, you brought up an important point about legality / copyright. I will get more info worldwide but i know in Australia, it is illegal to copy  original music in any form without the consent of the writer / composer...but it is ok to copy the songs for 'Personal use" in most situations. The whole thing is pretty lose really but as soon as I write, manuscript and record an orignal work, it becomes copyright, I also register it with the performing rights association wich makes it officially mine and if  I or any other composer wanted to take legal action against illegal duplication or reproduction of the music it is possible, however expensive and obviously ridiculous unless you were looking at million dollar marketing of the music.

In my case, I'm happy just to get my music out there as I am considering a new path in the music industry, that is, music for multimedia, games, movies, whatever ! 

 Note : If i hear an exact copy of my music on the Top 40, that would probably not be a good thing because someone would be making $$$ from my work, ok if they pay me !!

Can someone tell me where exactely these go? 

I can't imagine they would go into the plug-ins folder....am I wrong?

After a while you'll get tired of the same music.  I have totally customized my music folder over the years. Enjoy!

Very nice indeed and also very simcity-like, but a little short though. Some good music talent here.
