I just got Simcity 4 and whenever I patch my game and try to play it an Warning comes up saying that my Graphics.SGR could not be read, when I go into the game I can't use any of the  three new visual settings and it doesn't show any boxes around buildings which are going to be placed, which is really annoying.

system specs and perhaps a screenshot of your SC4 would help a bit. make sure u keep the resolution of the pic to a 800x600 standard and no larger. otherwise it will be deleted. there is a forum on how to do this. ive never heard of this happening, but with SC4, anything is possible.

please do the above and we will have a better understanding of what we're dealing with.

welcome to simtropolis!!

well if u don't mind it, if u have nothing to lose try reinstalling the game. i believe this is a ATI driver issue. i DO know that SC4 and ATI don't play well with eachother. download a previous driver version and see if this helps. make sure u back them, up before hand. if that dont work try the uninstall and reinstall method, although i dont think that will help any.

Actually, GraphicsRules.SGR not being parsed is not a driver-related issue.

Search the forums for GraphicsRules.SGR. You will get a lot of results, so you may need to sort through them.

I suggest you do what dadyrghluv suggested and reinstall SC4. Sometimes GraphicsRules.SGR isn't properly copied off of the disc.

Additionally, have you tried installing the updates for SC4?
