Negative Loan Balance

In a Large region of mine, I established a new city which grew quite quickly, I had 300k residents in year 6, so I was forced to take a few loans for subway construction. One of the loans has went 10 years, but did not come off the books. It is now counting negative years, as well as the balance is going negative. Several loans after that one have matured and disappeared. It is now year 20 and I have a loan that says -4yrs6 months,  -86,000$.

Any Ideas or knowledge?

Thx.

The question is whether that loan is acting like a deposit account.  Is it paying you interest?

@NOB- nope, I initially thought of that, but in doing the math I'm still paying on it....

but....coincidence or not, I do the UDI's once each to get the rewards then I turn them off, as not to abuse 70K every year etc, upon doing a tank mission, I ran over a green "golf-cart" thingy on a rail track and it blew up.  It was immediately after that when I noticed the 1 loan had gone negative but again, could just be a coincidence but I never ran over 1 of those green things b4.

Has anyone got a solution for this? I have the same problem and it's completely stuffed the finances of my city: the loan never reaches zero, so now my city has a permanent financial drain. Any fixes, please?

Incidentally, no plugins or modding. Just Rush Hour, patches, and the authorised add-on landmarks.

The only suggestion I can think of is to borrow enough to get the balance back to positive.  If the calculations are working, it should eventually close out.  If not, you have found an undocumented feature, a.k.a. BUG.  You'll probably have to destroy your city.

Thanks for the suggestion, but the extra borrowing just creates new loans, which lose in time, but leaves the negative one in place.

My city, alas, is so far progressed that starting over is not an option. Unless someone knows how to reset the loans, or edit the outstanding values, I'm just going to have to manage with the extra drain or use cheats to top up my banking. 15.gif

Incidentally, I think this happened when I saved a game just before the loan was due, so when I restarted it somehow overpayed, and missed zero and the closing of the loan. Hope that helps someone else avoid the same fate.

Well, I am sorry to say that you have uncovered an undocumented feature, also known as a BUG.  Since we can't mess with the executable, we don't have a handle on that.

This is a shot in the dark, and I cannot imagine how or why it could possibly work ... but if lying in front of a bulldozer stops it from demolishing your house, then anything's worth trying.

Have you tried importing it into a new tile (in a new region)? If for some alternate-reality reason that works, you could then import it back to your existing region (back it up first, of course).

Like I said, I cannot imagine why that would work, but I've seen stranger things, so I've learned to try even absurd solutions when I must.
