Date not moving

Hello!

I have a very annoying problem with my SC. Every time I open my city, the date starts moving like it should, but after a few Sim-months it stops.

Because of that, my city doesn't progress too much, and I need to exit and reload it to progress a little more.

I am pretty sure it happens because of city size (it doesn't stop on cities I just started), but not because of plugins (it used to work with the current plugins I have).

Also, we have another computer (which doesn't have better specs. than my computer, except HD space), and on the other computer it runs well.

I have an Intel Pentium 4, 2.4GHz, 1GB of RAM, pagefile of 5GB, nVidia GeForce 6800, and 2 HDs with 30GB each (But only 2GB free space in each). I run the Rush Hour version.

I also tried changing the display settings, but it didn't do much except making the game look pixelized.

And one more thing: except this problem, everything else works just fine. I have smooth scrolling, fast saving, and no bugs. Just this date problem.

Thank you very much,

nadavs

I think bigger free space can help. Try and delete unwanted files from the system. As a rule of thumb, leave about 20% free space on each hard drive for good performance.

Actually, you just need 20% room on the windows disk, for swap files etc.

Also, what did you do right before it started doing this (I doubt that it's a space problem)

This sounds like a really strange bug.

I found out files I didn't need and erased them. It didn't really help. I have 20% free on both HDs.

TinySim - I don't know actually. It started a long time ago. It might be a mod, but I really doubt it.

Generally, this will happen, especially in Cheetah speed, when the simulator doesn't get to the clock update loop because it is too busy.  The bigger the city, the more often this will occur.  It depends on how many recalculations are necessary for each time through the simulation per month of simulation.

you said you have a total of 5 GB of page file while you only have 4 GB free in total. how does that work out.

coolotter - I seperated the pagefile into two halves and put each one on a different drive.
When I saw it didn't help, I removed the D: drive pagefile and I think I found the solution. I used TrafficCop to reduce pathfinding to the minimum (I did it on the NAM traffic plugin so I won't get too big commute times). So far it seems to work just fine.

    I think there is nothing wrong with my math. 5GB - 3GB (C drive pagefile) = 2GB. 4GB - 2GB (D drive pagefile) = 2GB.
