What you HATE about SC4...

Commute is my grand irritation in SC4. However, it is possible to create megalopoli which work well. So therefore, there is an attainable target, and the challenge is in finding it.

Though it is annoying when there is a major employer 10 tiles away...on an uncongested avenue...with el rail...and subway, and the sims refuse to work there.

vilbe, never had that happen to me. Are you saying you have problems saving a full or nearly full city? What's the population at?

Large city tiles take forever to load and save. You can save a lot of time, by pressing CTRL+ALT+S, as this makes SC4 save only the vital information. Things such as the city photo (i.e. what you see of your city in region view), transportation view information, etc, is not saved, thus making the save a lot quicker.

If there are many plugins you do not use, you should consider removing them, as well.

If load times are high because of plugins, you might want to try using the DatPacker by Wouanagaine. It takes all of the folders in the plugin folder and turns them into individual plugin folders. For instance, I separated my plugins by creator. I also have a BSC folder which contains every creator who created something under BSC. When I use the DatPacker, it turns all of the contents of, say, Bixel into one big Bixel megafile. BSC is by far my largest file; it contains files by Simgoober, Spa, Colyn, amongst others. It helps the computer find the files quicker. I tell you, it changed my life. The initial load time was cut more than in half along with the load time for the individual cities. When you actually get into the cities, and click on a menu, say parks, it might take 20-30 seconds for the menu to pop up, but after that, everything pops up as quick as it did when I first bought the game. It changed my life. Before it, my game was running so slow that I hardly even wanted to play the game.

That is intentional, and a needed and useful feature. You'd be complaining if you couldn't see your car everytime you went past a building 2.gif

^ Thanks for the link 4.gif lol, something else I need to sign up to now...

Trying to find all the things other people have without a 20minute load time on menus, especially landmarks.

hmm... never did have problems with the game crashing... nor with loading times.

But what I dislike is the arrangement of the shadows/the game sun compared to the bat lighting rig.  Of course one can change the lighting rig for a specific model and will not work for the rest of the released models nor the maxis models (most people don't ever notice this anyway), but changing the ingame sun (although possible, but based on how shadows are calculated is not practicle and often makes the situation worse than before) cannot be done.  Also glowing props in shadows.  That just doesn't click right in my mind.  Limitations, but they could be fixed given a little bit more time by simply applying another layer across the prop like is done with shadows and during the night/morning/evening view.  Also, often raytraced buildings look "too good" compared to the older renderings done be maxis and hence look somewhat out of place.

Otherwise it's pretty good and meets my expectations.  I often like some of the design and detail put into the maxis buildings, especially the older style ones.

I haven't even tried playing those U-drive missions since the first time I played this game, I almost never complete a driving mission.

UDriveit could have been so much more, that bugs me a bit.

You cant reverse trains. If you want to do a railway mission and start it, you often end up on the railway that heads off the map, so you cant do the mission as you cant turn, even though the railway layout makes logical sense.

A lot of work would have been required, but a 100% 3D version of UDriveit would be nice.

The fact that cars appear and disappear onscreen. If they had them driving offscreen THEN disappearing, that would be fine. But how often does the car you're driving behind disappear?

why can't highways take hard turnings so u can build them in close quarters between buildings and i hate it that buildings can't use highways and that yo can't build under elevated highways. i would love it if there was highways that were level 2 and 3 high highways (ground= 0, elevated= 1) .

Think of NEO Tokyo the ones you see in all those anime shows with all the weaving highways.

Oh and one more thing. what happened to all the theme parks? i think everyone forgot that there should be atleast one in a city.

finally why can' we build man made canals so we can make another little form of public transport,. also people live on canals.37.gif

Canals...on the STEX

Theme parks....on the STEX

Highways don't make hard turnings because that is unrealistic

Double deck highways aren't possible afaik unfortunately. I think we can only have 1 tile wide dual network pieces

And there are train reversing lots on the STEX

hth

I can't stand the traffic reports, i give thm 6 avenues and so much highway and there still is a chaos of cars. And for those who hate the music, Amen, i changed my backround music to the songs i liked.

What is the deal with the annoyance with the music? I've never had the music on at all. Is it difficult to figure out how to turn it off?
