help, i dunno anything about BATs

I love SimCity 4 and all these BATs and stuff look so amazing. But the problem is I dont know how to install any of them or how they work. Could someone please help? All i know about are the free mods and stuff. Cuz those are simple. I wish BATs came with installation readmes...please help?

first you need rush hour/deluxe edition. next you need to download the bat files. then you put them into your handy dandy plugin folder.

Okay. Well, I have SC4 Deluxe, and I have the plugin folders and stuff. Do I put all the files into the plugins folder?

Heres another concern. Well, I've used some of the mods from the modds and downloads section. I put em into the plugin folder right? I startup the game right? I play a city right? No mods. Some of em work, while the others dont. Is this because I use them simulatneaously?

Ugh...not knowing this stuff is really a pain.

If you have SC4, you will be hard pressed to find any custom content that works. Almost all custom content is meant for SC4 RH/Deluxe. So if you don't have one of those, I suggest you order a copy of Deluxe from Amazon.com

Well, the game is not for the computer unaware.  All downloads from here come as either zip file or exe files.  If you get an exe, it is an installer and you can put it in by double clicking it.

If the file is a zip, you should unpack it with either XP's built in  service or with the archiveing package of your choice.

In any case, don't download anything directly to your plugin's folder.  Create a new folder away from the game (e.g. My Downloads) and put your downloads here.  You might want to create folders here, too, to organize things.

Unzip packed files here.  The move any .dat, .sc4lot, .sc4desc and .sc4model files inito your plugins accoring to the read_me instructions.  Some downloads cannot use all the parts at once because they contain options.  The NAM is a good example, but if you have a PC it has an installer.

You should only deal with one download at one time.  You should download it, unpack and insert it, and test it on a sandbox region.  There are so many downloads now that conflicts can arise.  You must test each one with the game, separately.
