Help! After being unsatisfied with my previous region, I've now got no cities or region at all! (just the default one) 1. I want to save two cities from my old region. 2. I want to create a new region customized. I only have AppleWorks 6 and Photoshop Elements. I have no idea what BMP is.

It would appear you need some training, and more software.  Have a browse though this section and see if it helps.  You should also get a better image editor.  Have a look at the GIMP.  It is open source and free.  There is a version for the Mac, I think.

So I should plan out my region and post it on there...

...because GIMP looks like it has little documentation and I don't think X11 is on my computer. Lovely. Sigh. Are you sure PE won't work?

EDIT: I also need to save two cities that have now vanished, hopefully, temporary.

To create a new custom region, the program of the day is SC4 Terraformer. There are links to the download and the support thread in my signature.

First, create a new blank region and adjust the config.bmp to suit your needs.

Then import your two existing cities into the places you want them to be. Everything else will be blank

Now load this region in SC4TF and lock the already developed cities. Now you can make changes to the terrain in the rest of the region without affecting the two already existing cities. Know that you will have to be careful to keep the contour of the land since the already existing cities cannot be saved.

@ Prince of Sims: I have a Mac! EDIT: Haha, I think I have figured it in PE. But then, once I do create the region of my dreams, how do I transfer?

The GIMP has a pretty good tutorial set as a separate download.  You really need to look at the page.
