Map configs and rendering

I downloaded both the jpg and config and i put the config in a new folder. When i open the game the new region is there but it is the normal map config, not the one i put in the folder. Also my game crashes while i am rendering maps. it gets about half way through and crashes. The game crashes every now and then while i am playing but not with the regularity that it does while i am rendering maps.  

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

In order to address this problem, we need to see your environment.  Please tell us the following items:

1. CPU (s)
2. RAM
3. Virtual Memory (Initial, Maximum)
4. Version of DirectX
5. Version of the game (SC4, RH, Deluxe) and patch level
6. Graphics card and driver version

It sounds like you are being interrupted during the render.  If nothing else, turn off your screen saver.

Also, to make sure you are not being hit by some background tasks, disconnect from the Internet, and kill your virus scanner, your adware scanner (if any), and your firewall during rendering. 

Turn them all back on when you have finished.

I can't help with the crashes, without the info NOB ask for.  But the config.bmp problem might be caused by an incorrect naming.  Make sure the config.bmp file is named exactly that.  Some config files are named config1.bmp, or other, for convenience of uploading.

I turned off the screensaver and the maps now render with out crashing. i also changed the config names to config.bmp, but the blank maps stay in the normal config.

any other thoughts?

Actually, nevermind. everything is working now. thanks for the help.
