Arbordale Stadium

Thread for the construction of my next stadium. Baseball this time, at for now, Arbordale Stadium. For those of you who don't know, the MLB baseball system goes, with normal seating capacities,

MLB (35,000 - 50,000), AAA (10,000 - 20,000), AA (7,000 - 10,000), A (3,000 - 7,000), Rookie (1,000-3000)

I'm going to aim to have Arbordale look like a new AAA part. Both of the softball fields I made earlier really weren't full-fledged stadiums, only amateur areas. This one is going to take a lot more time, and hopefully get me to learn the BAT a little better.

I''ve got a great field texture, and figured out what I'm going to do behind the backstop. Rather than cheating, like I usually do, I'm going to try and actually make a bowl. I'll have seating down both baselines, and a section of bleachers in right field. Party decks in left field, berm, scoreboard, and bullpens in center. I'll add lights, a second deck, true buildings, railings, advertisements, all that good stuff.

Current construction status:

Main Seating, Walls

There's only one baseball BAT on the STEX right now, and it's pretty crappy. I know - I made it. Teemu_Om is making one that will without a doubt eclipse this in greatness, but I think I can get this out first.

How about a stadium that is bigger than 50,000? International?

I hope you will make a good stadium.

IMO, big stadiums look incredibly junky if you haven't completely mastered the BAT.

About three months ago, I made an NFL/Football stadium that looked like it held about 60,000, but it just ended up being too sprawling and sterile, so I didn't upload it here.

Okay, here's what I've got done as of now. Is that a...bowl!? Me? Yeah, I'm surprised too. Just still have to figure out what I'm doing behind it - building, concourse, second deck, or just another section.

The texture for now, looks really good. However, as all BATters know, in game it'll look very different and hopefully it'll still keep it's very realistic feel there.

Good luck with this project   19.gif

    Coult: Yeah, I hope so.

The bowl, as you can kind of see now, is on pace to swing around and really get away from the field, which isn't good. I cut it in half and angled them in more to prevent that from rolling too far. Also, for a change of pace, the two sides aren't going to be symmetrical.

I finished up the lower bowl, which now has six sections. Also added a huge rectangle and concourse of seats down the third base line.

The right-field party decks are looking fantastic. Three steep rows of wooden stool-and-counter seating, one level of picnic tables, and a canopy picnic area on fifth row at the top. It extends most of the way to the first bend in the outfield, and from there over the left-center, I'm going to have berm seating.

I'm about to do a test export of what I have done right now. The party decks worked out good, but they seem off-scale, a little too large. I'll check out what it looks like once I export a little bit, so you'll get an updated screenshot then.

Well, here we go. Obviously, the corners visible now aren't going to stay that way. I'm going to connect the third-base concourse up to the party deck, and extend the berms.

It's simply too big to even test export any more, so I took a grainy screenshot from GMAX.

I have the press/luxury boxes done. So now all I have to do is make the left field bleachers, finish the plaza and facades, and create supports or walls for everything that's floating around.

And suddenly, after a five-hour marathon, I'm done. It'll probably take 90 minutes to export, so expect it on the STEX later this afternoon!
