First piece of advice, if you don't have the NAM, get it! There are highway interchanges that address most of the usual needs. Tab thru the menu and you'll find a good selection. The only other alternative would be to create your own. I'm not a BATter, but considering the work that must go into them and the many very good BATters that contribute to the STEX, if they were easy to create, I'm sure there would be lots of them on the STEX. As far as additions to the transportation network, everyone has their favorites. Mine is the subway system. Using road top stations (from the STEX), you can place them almost anywhere. They'll do wonders for your city's commute time and will not only pay for themselves, but actually make a profit in a very short time. I use the combo bus/subway stops and they fill most of my needs and I'm able to keep my commute times low. Going between cities, rail, monorail and subways work well in addition to a few roads or highways. Hope this helps some.

This thread will sound like a broken record, but go get NAM.

I certainly agre with everyone about the NAM.  It's essential.

The development of a regional transportation network, though, is more than just having tools such as different interchange and bridge options at your disposal.  Way too many folks just start building roads, highways and rail out from where they start in a given city without any thought given to the region as a whole, and then are disappointed when they find themselves boxed into a corner, or in having developed two incompatible (in terms of a coherent transportation scheme) cities adjoining one another.

Here's a transportation map of Three Rivers Region, which is what I'm currently working on in the CJ of the same name.

I actually have very little development so far.  But the basic infrastructure, considered on a region-wide basis, is in place.

Whatever you choose to do, good luck!

Hi mc_gringo-

it's about skewing the image but how much and which way?quote>

Here's a post from a few weeks ago from my CJ that walks you through the steps-

A Tutorial on Creating a Simple Regional Road Map

I have refined the technique a little bit and intend to update the information, but that's not at the top of the to-do box what with the image problems I'm having.

I will post on this thread when I get back home tonight the refined skew and rotation adjustment numbers- as you can see from the map, they are probably pretty close to as good as they will get at this point.

Look in your guide...There's a lot of advice on transportation there. Check out the sunken highway tutorial. This will teach you how to building sunken highways, roads, monorail, rail...Basicly any type of transportation network, sunken. If networks are sunken over passes can be so much easier, so check out that tutorial. Check out those CJs, they'll give you a little advice and some examples of typical and un-typical types of transportation systems. Check out other threads with the same topic...There are a lot of them.
