It seems that mu computer has trouble playing in-game videos unless the graphic settings are at 800x600. However some games don't offer that option anymore, and if it's not set that way the videos move so slowly you can't watch them. Anyone have any ideas?

Myst Uru, Civilization, CivCity, pretty much any game with in-game movies. I can not run many games at all unless they're set to 800x600, otherwise the game moves too slow.

    What should I do?

I can set it too 640x480 from there, but I was hoping to be able to play them on a higher resolution.

My computer is set to 1280x1024 and it has no problems. Why do the games?

I have an integrated NVIDIA GeForce 6150 graphics card. I have 2GB of RAM by the way.

You should get the latest drivers at http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

and if you already have the latest drivers...you should get a screen like this when you open the Graphics adapter property dialouge.

also check if you have the latest Direct X version. you can find that out via the Dxdiag command at the start menu -> run -> dxdiag.

Sorry if this is stupid, but how do you get to that screen. From device manager?

    @ sim1013:

Start menu -> control panel -> Nvidia control panel -> Display properties ->Manage custom timings -> here you will get the screen, the interface might be diffrent to the screenshot but all the optioons will be there.

Tell me if this solution works or not.

When I click on display properties, I get a different page that doesn't have a "Manage Custom Timings" button. I'd show you a picture, but I'm not sure how to.43.gif

I have updated my drivers recentally; do you think I need a new graphics card?

you can capture a screen shot by pressing Alt and Prt Scr keys at the same time. You may need a new graphics card if you want to play all your new games at 1600 x 1200 (if you have a monitor that supports it) with all the eye candy turned on! 9.gif

I figured I had to use the "print scr" button, but I'm not sure how to put the picture in my post.3.gif

I think I do need a new graphics card! Guess it's time to stop in at Circuit City! Thanks for taking so much time to help me!
