Searching for duplicate texture ids

    Hello,

I'm experiencing a problem since I installed some (let's say a lot 3.gif) stuff I downloaded once from the STEX.

My problem is that I cannot get the Columbus terrain grass textures work. I'm pretty sure that I've installed something that overwrites the terrain texture placed by the columbus, however I'm unable to find what is causing the matter.

I tried also renaming the Columbus folder in something beginning with the "Z" letter (so that the game should read it last and overwrite previous textures with the same IDS, I thought) but had no luck.

For modding I was using the iLive suite, but have found nothing for scanning for duplicate texture ids.

Is there any other solution ? (I also thought of removing and re-insalling all the plugins one by one but another kind of solution would be more apreciated 4.gif)

    Thanks in advance for help.

    Cloud.

i suggest clearing your plugins folders of anything except the Columbus Terrain mod. remember, there are two plugins folders, one in Program Files and one in My Documents.

once you've figured out that it's a plugin conflict, seperate your plugins into half. try each half. whichever half seems to cause the problem, you know the other half is good. now seperate the bad half into half and repeat the process.

just a reminder, the Columbus Terrains change color throughout the year. near the dry months of summer, the terrain looks like Maxis terrain. so you might need to run the simulator for a while.

    Hello,

    thanks for your answer.

I began following your suggestion as I suddenly noticed something strange.

I cleared the plugins folder (the one in Program Files\Maxis was already clear) and left only the Columbus Terrain Mod folder, then I started the game and.. nothing happened. I mean, the Columbus Terrain Mod wasn't working for the grass, just like before.

However the sea mod I was using was still active even if it was no longer in the plugins folder.

Then I installed the Columbus again (with the plugins folder still empty), started the game and now it was working! In the meantime the sea mod was no longer working.

Then I placed all my plugins back in the folder, and runt the game once again.

Everything was ok, the Columbus textures were showing, except for the sea mod that was no longer working . (however this is not a problem at all)

So I wonder if there's any other folder or settings-file that mods use to change when we install them.

I wonder why leaving only the columbus in the plugins folder wasn't making it work, and why the seamod was still active even if in the plugins folder I left only the columbus directory.

    Cloud.

That is odd... Since your game is exhibiting strange symptoms, I suggest that you run a full system spyware and virus scan. After that, uninstall SC4. Delete all folders etc. left behind after the uninstall. Backup anything you want to save, such as plugins. Now, reboot your PC and reinstall SC4. Then perform a defragmentation and reboot your computer once more. Now you can start putting in plugins. I would suggest that you try the water mod first as it seems to be buggy. Then move on to the Columbus Terrain Textures.

This way, you have a clean slate to start with, and pinpointing any buggy mods will be better.
