First of I think this is a great site and it seems like it will really highten my simcity 4 experience with all the great stuff Ive seen on here, Im new though so I just have a few questions. First, whats a BAT? Like whats it stand for or whatever. Also, when it says that something is ploppable and growable, I understand that it will grow if you zone it and stuff but to plop it you have to find it in landmarks right? See some of them say ploppable landmark and some of them just say ploppable. So if a residential building is just 'ploppable', that means ill find it in the landmarks right? Sorry if the questions are stupid but help is appreciated.

BAT is the Building Architect Tool. Its used to make new 3d models and convert them to in-game models. But BATs need to be placed on Lots for them to work. Its the lot that is growable or ploppable.

Not all ploppables are to be found in the Landmark menu. Really only landmarks should be there. The designer of teh Lot should tell you what menu it appears in. Parks, Landmarks, Civic and Transport buildings are all ploppables and should appear in their respective menus.

The SimTropolis Glossary and Omnibus have lots of good information on these things. There is also a New Members forum that you might find useful.

A word of advice though: ploppable residentials don't work very well if at all. The sims can't get out of them to go to work so they get no job zots. Then the buildings abandon. Some people say they have got ploppable residentials to work, but I never have (at least not the way residentials should work)

Good luck with your cities though, and welcome to SimTropolis

Welcome to simtropolis. Just to clear it up, you can't zone BAT, and BAT won't grow. What is made by BAT will grow, or you can make it a plottable, and it won't grow, you'll have to plot it down.

Any building you find in a menu is a plottable, because any building you find in a menu has to be ploped down into your city.

    Welcome to Simtropolis!

You can plop custom-made buildings, it only depends on what type they are. If it's ploppable, look around the menus for it. If it's growable, zone the required type of zone and wait.
