Do you mean the best song right now? As in come out not to long ago? If so, I think it's The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg, by Iron Maiden.

One of the best songs ever recorded has to be "Outdoor Miner" by Wire.

The record it's on - 1978's "Chairs Missing" - is a very experimental record by most people's standards. But right after going through 15 minutes of downtempo dirges, Outdoor Miner's bright guitars and backup vocals come as a complete suprise. Basically it's a pop song on an experimental record. I really like it when records are sequenced like that, where you just don't see it coming.

It is followed by another dark and biting number. No surprise.

Yup... I'm going with the first poster... 'Maneater' - Nelly Furtado. It makes me want to go out and par-tay EVERY time I hear it. Not many songs do that. And its so damn catchy.

Of course, that is for current releases. In terms of music written throughout history, it comes nowhere close to best song! 4.gif
