Brick and historic style midrise architecture?

Unfortunately the STEX doesn't have the greatest search capabilities, and while I did find some good midrises with a search on this forum and previous posts asking a similar question about smaller buildings, I'm still not able to find what I really need.

All of my cities look too modern, and that makes them unrealistic... I need some direction toward finding some good brick midrises and lowrises, also anything with a historical look would be great. So any of you who have a little more knowledge about the who's who of STEX and their styles who can point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it.

There isn't any big secret to the STEX, just start at page one, and go to the end. You can also sort it by rating and by the number of downloads. If you find something you like, you can click on the author's name to find other things that they've made.

If you search for my name you'll find some midrises, but the best way to find what you want is just to go through everything. And of course, check the stex every few days for new releases, since people are uploading things every day.

    Good luck 4.gif

I check daily and go through page after page of buildings all the time... Just noticed several people had posted similar request-for-help threads in this forum, and thought someone who had been checking the STEX daily for longer than myself would be able to offer advice. It's a bit difficult to use Simtropolis with a dial-up connection anyway, so it's a big ordeal when it takes me a couple of minutes just to see ten thumbnails on every single page I view of the STEX- and that's nothing compared to downloading something when I finally find something worth my time.

Actually I think I have two of your buildings, Jason, but one of the zip files didn't function properly. Thanks for your historic-style stone buildings.

I would suggest searching for individual artists like jason, it would speed up the process for you.

JBSimio has done some small town stuff that is almost all historical old brick buildings. None of them are above two storeys though so that might not be what you're looking for. Jascon has some great bats too and Simgoober has also done a handful of old style bats. There are others I'm sure too that I have forgotten. As others have said, the best approach is to just browse. It's about the only thing you can do unless someone decides to make a guide at some point.
