i attempted to do a free drive with the ferry, but whenever i try to turn the ferry around to get it out of the bay the terminal is in, it just capsizes! is this a bug or something? or is the water not deep enough?

From my experience it tend sot be that the water around the ferry port is too shallow or there is some building that extends into the water that you are inadvertently "hitting." My suggestion is to try going straight forward (or back depending which way the ferry is pointed) and if for some reason it fails, lower the terrain (recommended by using the ctrl-alt-shift-god mode button trick). Aside from that i haven't noticed any other ways that might happen. Hope this helps.

Often, when terraforming water areas, even though the water looks deep, there may be spikes of land sticking up under the water that your boat is hitting. Unfortunately, I haven't found a way to see these very well, but I'm betting that's what your problem may be.

Your best bet to check the bottom is by using the underground view provided when laying water pipes.

Thanks, Arrow! I hadn't thought of that. Know of any way to terraform and see it at the same time?

Hmm I think if you go into the graphs area, then click water pollution you can see underwater AND use the mayor terraforming tools..
