shared industry

I just found a picture posted by greyveil, which showed his regional set up. This is the picture:



He designed this so that there was a shared industrial section. Is it important t have a shared industrial section for you region? Further more, is it important that indutry be connected between different citied in the region (can small block of lone indutrial work, or is a large connected industrial mass better)?

I find that it works to have a "core area" somwhere.  Usually in my core I have apprx 125,000 sims and then a bunch of industrial.  these two fsctors help drive demand for the entire region.  While it isn't necessary to set everything up as well (or as neatly) as in the  picture, It's just more obvious that way.  In my region you can't tell where my "core" is, but it's there.
