For me London is really beautiful, (I know some really ugly districts in inner Paris)
That's my 3th favorite city after Tokyo and Paris

well not all paris is picturesque and smart.Think of inner city areas. They have some shoddy buildings there.Same with london. But even in stockwell(a bit of a dogdy area)There are grand terraces which reach prices of over a 1millions pounds.I find that innercity london has more buute. And the skyscrapers are better. Its not the amount, its the quality. The rivers nice and big too.lol.I think londons transportation is better(cleaner.ect.)And more expansive.

Yeah, it may be called the Gherkin Building but I personally would like to call it the London Egg. 4.gif

Having been in both cities within the last day, though I really did like the uniformity of Paris, I just like London better. It seems more open.

I've seen London and Paris, beautiful cities, but I choose for London, very nice city, sooooo big, I stayed in a hotel near to Canary Wharf or something like that, there you can find some real big skyscrapers, one from 230m high, very impressive (know that there are much bigger buildings offcoure)

I can get in London in three houres if I wanted, and Paris is three houres driving from here I think, so it's hard to choose

Grtz

Really hard to decide. Maybe Paris. The city feels like a carefully planned piece of art, thanks to Haussmann. Monuments placed carefully on squares to form vistas and everything. London looks much more pieced together, and run-down in many places. I liked both cities on my visits, though.

Ok ... I prefer Haussmannian buildings to terraced houses with their facades made of visible red bricks.

I like Paris' specifically planned road networks and its viewshafts (I hope this is the correct translation of "Sichtachse").

Is there something similar to the view from the Palais Chaillot to the Eiffel Tower in London?

Someone's preferences are just irrational, it's difficult to express them ...

I've never been in London (except two quite short stays in Heathrow), but at the beginning of August I've been in Paris for some days.

[btw.: I like your BATs, above all your terminal stations ... 2.gif]

Everything you could ever want. Like mr Jayo said. I'm sure I could say the same kind of thing about New York (Or new Jersey) if I was provoked enough.

The two cities are very big and I don't really like big cities. But on the face of it I would say I prefer Paris because I felt like there was a more bohemian vibe. It's quite unexplainable how I felt that but the felling just emanated from everywhere i was in the city. I really liked the place I stayed in which was near the St. Ambroise Metro. It had a great feel to it! That said I love Camden and Covent Garden in London but other than that I don't really like London. The architecture is less pleasing as there is a lot more concrete (Not London's fault, I know) but tha ft said, there are some spectacular sights in the City. As for rudeness... well I think all capital cities have a snobbery to them (especially Rome!).

Maybe with living so close to London I do not appreciate it like a long-distance visitor would but personally I like Paris better although the pickpockets in the Eiffel Tower were doing my head in. I manage to report them all though! Haha my mission for the day that was!

In fact since Paris is a lot denser than London, Paris has more  concrete than London.

Even many Haussmannian buildings are in concrete.

There you have it. Just like montrouge said. This means that if a bomb fel on Paris and London, Paris would survive.
