In the game, you can bulid a "Small International Airport", i always suspected that there was a medium and large one if they bothered to give the one you first plop down a "small" one, but i never found out how to make one... and asumed there wasnt one after all.

Now im building a city, with a small international airport, and i dont know how to expand it... but now i know you can. When in lot editor, i stumpled upon the large airport lot, and when looking at a free segemant of the stratagy guide that is avaalible online they told of how a large airport allows for greater cap relif then a small one... SO I KNOW THERE IS ONE. A total of 9 Airports, 3 (landing strip, municiple, International), and 3 (small meduim large) for each, 3x3=9.

So, in my city with a pop of 240,000 residential and 85,000 commercial, i have gotten nothing. I otught mabey it might do it on its own, but so far nothing, and there certainly is no button you click to expand it... the only possibilty i can think of is that the airpot usgae is at about 20%... So that would mean it will take a while of waiting to approch the max, (Im thinking perhaps that might be how you get it... dont know)

ok... scrap all that... in short...

I really need the Relif cap offered by a LARGE International Airport, how do i turn my Small International Airport into a Large One?

The airports expand automatically when their capacity is used up.  You get a notice from the tranportation advisor.

If you need cap relief, drop in a landmark.  Try the Sphinx.  Plazas do the job too.

N_O_Body is right.  All you need to do is wait.  And besides, I don't even care about the Maxis airports.  I use airport packs, such as RMIP-2, SWAP, and the Airport Enhancers.

    Ah, well thanks.

But its going to take a while to expand, and ive already taken up all the space in my city, unless i pave over the city park. I guess commercial zones in a nieghboring city might help. Anyway, it another thing to balme on the stupid fact that you cant effectivly bulid a metorpolis in Maxis land, as there anre no huge lots, and that always the place i end up startign my game... gah!
