Need help with Train U-Drive it missions

For all U-drive it missions for trains, several times the trains need to turn back to go to the next destination. Is there a way to do it wiht out planning loops along the track at certain locations? 

Sometimes I lay track in narrow places like in between aiport and sea port - at these locations I cannot lay a loop. Is there a way to turn back the train from a station without laying a loop?

Unfortunatly, the only way to turn the train around is to build that loop. At least ive never heard of another way.

is it really that hard to have a loop though? I just stuick one right near the edge of my cities before the tracks cross into the abyss. Might also be a plan to build a large circut through your city, so you can just keep on going to get back to wear you started.
