Maps not rendering correctly (elevation)

I know how to import new maps into SC4 (config in a new folder, import the jpeg greyscale, let it load,....).
However! When I've iported the map, the elevation is all screwed up.
The terrain is 4 to 5 levels below what it should be. I have to manually alter the elevation of each city before I see the map I donwloaded form. Problem is though, elevating each city 4 times is not high enough, but elevating each city 5 times is too high (rivers become land and such). I hope you understand what I mean and any help on how to correctly import a greyscale would be appreciated.

Hi,

I suppose that some terrain modds may cause the problem. Remove those elevation-changing modds and try again.

Welcome to Simtropolis. Great to have you here.

I find that blurry grayscale maps turn out problematic when you import them into SC4....that's why I'd only stick with the crystal clear looking maps. It's very frustrating. I usually don't even bother with maps, and just terrascape by hand because of that fact.

Some terrain modds maycause problems but if you follow the instructions you should be able to get the same result If i have a hieght mod in my map it will be mentioned in the description.

Trouble is real world maps tend to be a bit blurry anyways and the river/seas/lakes are at an point that is hard to tell. All of mine are rendered before I put them up here.

I don't use any terrain modds. Just have nam and some plug-in lots, but that's it. The way I figure it, the greyscale is too light when I donwload since the maps are rendered too low. Oh well, I'll just stick with my own maps then. 15.gif

It's possible that the map creator had some terrain mods installed when he made them. Thus, messing it up for everyone else. Yeah, just forget about using his maps.
