Sim City 4 Patch Problems

Whenever I download the patch and press run this is the message i get.........

error ept0036: Old File not found. However, a file of the same name was

               found. No update done since file contents do not match.


What is this message and how do i get it to go away or stop so i can install the patch for my game. The only reason i need the patch is because the lighting problems for the buildings i dowloaded in my game. So if there is any other way to solve this problem please speak up. I NEED your help, so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Help me.

which patch are you trying to install? I am assuming its the batupdate, do you have any other no official patches installed? like a no-cd patch? if so you will need to uninstall the game and reinstall with the proper files and updates for the patch to work!

Well If I reinstall my game my cities will be saved right? And i already had downloads on the game before so i should reinstall the game. Then after everything is installed install the patch and install the batpatch and then i can install other things? Then do you thing the lighting will work?

what i ment by install other things is like download buildings and parks, etc.

Well, first you need to use the edit button to update a post that you just made, please.

Yes, if you have this problem there are things you must know:

1. There are five SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) versions of this game.  You must use the one and only patch for that version to update to a working version.
2. If you have SC4 without Rush Hour or Deluxe, you can't download any BAT buildings or any having Rush Hour dependencies
3. If you have Rush Hour or Deluxe, there is still one and only one patch for this extended version for your SKU.  After you have downloaded and installed this update, you can then do things with the BAT and the associated programs including the lighting patch.

From the sound of things, you have to reinstall the game.  Before you do that save your Regions and Plugins folders to the desktop, then uninstall the game completely.

Do a disk cleanup, and a defragmentation pass and then reinstall.

When your reinstall ends with the appropriate patches, put your Regions and Plugins back.
