Hey guys, due to a misunderstanding, I am not going to do this anymore. Read the posts below to understand why. You can still use my logo. See the link below to see what I originally had in mind.

Check out spa's bat thread on pg 6, you'll understand what I mean.

What you define as 'New Urbanism' really isn't.

Under the real confines of New Urbanism, JBSimio's BAT's would work, as would Goober's. Neither of these fit your criteria. Most of spa's do work, I admit, but you are limiting it severely. New Urbanism affects more than commercial - residential, and to a lesser degree, industrial, are affected as well.

Please do more research before jumping into something like this.

All I'm asking ACE, is for a BATer who makes a lot to fit the criteria, to PM me, I will add there name to it, and give them the logo. They can add it to their download on the STEX as one of their pictures. I'm not trying to do something super complex as you think I am. It's a simple idea. Sorry for offence, anyone.

Hello. I'm flattered that you picked my BATs out of the big heap on the STEX to feature (I only have 9 after all) and that you've put in the time to make a custom logo. I have to agree with ACEfanatic though, this is slightly misnamed. The basic tenents that I take away from New Urbanism is that the urban space shouldn't be dominated by cars, buildings should be oriented towards the street, they should form a streetscape so most should be w2w or fairly close to that and there should be a mix of uses. You can see both of these principles in my BATs. On cars, I like to put them behind the building, which does fit new urbanism's tennets, but it's also perfectly accetable in new urbanism to have cars parked in a central parking garage, on the street, in an underground lot or to simply make no allowances for them at all. The point is that in new urbanism development is on a pedstrian scale and is pedestrian friendly. Pedestrians shouldn't have to walk across a monster parking lot to get to a building, which is what you see out in suburban areas and walking should be designed to be a pleasent and easy experience. The point is that what you're suggesting is an alley project more than a new urbanist one. A new urbanist umbrella is much bigger.

As for the logo, I won't be adopting it on my uploads. I have already created a whole series of logos based on the neighbourhoods that my BATs come from in Calgary, Halifax and Toronto (Kensignton, 17th Avenue, Spring Garden, Quinpool, Yonge Street, Queen Street and the Kingsway). My neighbourhood/street logos have come from banners or street signs in the neighbourhoods. I have already released under Kensington and 17th Avenue and I would really like to stick with the neighbourhood theme. That said, feel free to keep my name on your logo and point to my BATs in trying to get others to adopt the style. If it takes off I'll happily point others to BATs that mesh with my own. Thanks again for the thought and consideration. Nice to know I have some fans out there 4.gif

Actually, spa, I am quite familiar with the concepts of new urbanism. I have read several books in the past, even before playing SC. Ok, I undestand now what ACE and you were trying to get to me. I couldin't think of another name, and after you refered to your BAT style as new urbanism, I just decided to call it that. No big deal. I understand that I'm starting a alleyway project (lol, that just sounds funny) It's also good to here that you have created your own logos. I cant wait to see more. I'll keep the original post up, and incase anyone wants to use the logo, they can. Just remove the part with Spa's name on it. I'm not doing this anymore.
