Hello, I am new to Simtropolis and pretty familiar with SimCity 4. Under the exchange section, if I happen to see some new files to download and use in SimCity, where do I place those downloaded files? I.E. Bat files, etc.

Once I have them saved correctly, how do I make sure those files will be loaded when I start the game up?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to Simtropolis StylinLancer! 39.gifI hope you have a great time here! 10.gif

You extract (unzip) the download using Winzip,WinRAR or a similar archiver into your MyDocuments/SimCity4/Plugins folder and they should appear in game. If this doesn't work, the building you are trying to download must be a growable which means you have to zone some Residential, Commercial or Industrial zones and get to the required stage to make it grow or it could be a reward which means you have to meet some requirements before you can use it in your city. Some downloads have automatic installers in their zip file and if that's the case double click on it to open it and follow the instructions. If the building you downloaded comes with a ReadMe always read it as it contains useful information on how to get the building into the game. Hope this helps.

I look forward to having a good time here!

Thank you for the information regarding the downloads of extra files. I'll make sure I test out some of these this evening.

    Thanks again!

quick suggestion, since you're just starting to build your plugin collection, i'd suggest you start putting them in folders and creating a hierarchy. this can be very helpful at times when isolating a bad download.

All you have to do is find those files on the exchange, download them, and place the files into your SimCity4 By the way, welcome to Simtropolis! Hope you enjoy yourself here 4.gif

edit: Dependancy files are add-on files to make sure every prop or building on the lot appears correctly. If not, the horrid brown SC4 box will appear. Hope this helps.

    Cheers!
