    Major update time!! Delton the regions largest city is growing to the south as the south beach area is developing into quite the city.  Because of the warm south beach climate agriculture thrives as well as tourism check it out.

    You've got a nice mix of zoning and building types there. Nice integrative transportation network as well.

    Nice job with the industrial port aleking.

    Too many people do not take pride in their industrial areas and don't develop them as they sould.  You, however are doing a wonderful job with yours so far.  I look forward to the next update!

    Oh, and the beaches look beautiful!

    Gee, I'm not too original with city names.  I usually just name them after real towns and cities I know of or I take a peek at an atlas.

    How about.........Hanover Bay..........fits with a watery area right?  Use it if you'd like, but I won't be offended if you don't.  Like I said, it's not my strongest area.

    yeah those beaches took forever to get to look like that, so
    i'm glad people liked them, but for some reason the region
    view looks lame28.gif

    any ideas how to fix that strange beach look?

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//regionewfar.JPG align=baseline>

    see what i', talking about, that looks lame i wish it looked like beaches do from a plane
    you know tourquise-(spelled wrong i'm sure) but you know what i mean.

    heres the other half of the region

    and one more question if anyone can help how do people take those nice
    super far region shots this is as far as i knoiw how to take.

    ----MINI PICTURE TUTORIAL----

    A Small Tropical Island City

    First: start with a small island and quick level it at just above sea level, then soften like crazy
    this will make your beaches look tight. this is a coral style island i.e. the bahamas

    welcome to Mota Island
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//roads1.JPG align=baseline>

    I then outhlined main raods, do it however you like, but i think keeping it simple and laying the streets in grids across the raods will look quite realistic.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//raods2.JPG align=baseline>

    since this island is in my region so many jobs will be provided outside the city

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//early3.JPG align=baseline>

    zoning is an all light res and farms mix with two churches and a school

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//med1.JPG align=baseline>

    i also handplant tons of tropical trees.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//close1.JPG align=baseline>

    example of the mixed zoning
    this is the whole island without the beaches

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//donenobeach.JPG align=baseline>

    now add the beaches, this takes forever be patient

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//beachnopalms.JPG align=baseline>

    it still doesn't look right, so add palms
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//finishedpalms.JPG align=baseline>

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//coolisland.JPG align=baseline>

    coming up we'll see what happens when we open up the island to tourism and commerce

    After looking through your journal so far, I can honestly say that it is beautiful - very true to life - I especially like your upclose downtown shots - SHOW MORE!

    I will be keeping my eye on this journal to see what direction you take your region in.

    the region continues to grow and my favorite part of the journal is complete-the massive trans system

    to long el-line that you see runs from Sheraton (the far north rural penninsula) around the center bay through Delton and back all the way to the future site of the regions main metropolis-to be built.  This monorail system connects all major cities and crosses many main rail and highway exchanges.

    you can see sheraton on the top and the future city site across the bay below it. one major plan is to continue the avenue from the bridge inland along the coast.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//new%20metro.JPG align=baseline>

    the other side of the region
    and i did download region census but for one reason or another this particular region won't load so f-it

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//metro2.JPG align=baseline>

    here you can see Delton and South Delton Beach

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//transss3.JPG align=baseline>

    finally the opposite side of the island and Cape Drosky

    Behold ............

    Aleksander

    what a self absorbed mayor i am

    this is the trans layout, try to follow the rail lines and tunnels i got kinda creative
    and tried to really make downtown the focal point of transit as well as commerce

    L.JPG

    houses and farms in hills, mixed in apartments at the base and downtown on the penninula thats what
    i think and it should look good in regional context, suggestions???42.gif

    this is a downtown (incomplete) little preview
