BAT buildsing wont light up

the BAT buildings in my cites wont light up. I know theres a file to download in order them to light but dont know where to get the file from. I know one place is that I can get it at simcity website but I dont have an account with them

simcity.com registration is required to download the Bat nightlight fix, the only place to get the update is simcity.com

You need to Product Register your game and log in over at the Official Sim City 4 website and go to the BAT page. At the bottom of that page there is a section titled "How to get the most out of your B.A.T. experience" and there should be an update there. Download it and the custom buildings should have lights.

After this, your build will go from 638 (the first patch) to 640.

I, myself, have an obstacle in which the SC4 files are on an external hard drive, but the installer won't find it (it was a ported file).

Yeah, but how for God's sake can you get it downloaded from simcity.com if the site wouldnt allow to register your product?

This is really trippy, you know, I do have a legal copy of SC4 but all my attempts to register the product have failed. Then I decided to buy SC Rush Hour expansion pack for registration purposes only. Unfortunately, the last one didnt work either (serial number is invalid or already registered). The only problem I can think of is that I have two operating systems on my macbook pro - Mac OS X and Windows XP. I know that simcity.com doesnt accept Mac OS registrations. But does it still apply to Windows XP users if Windows installed on a macbook pro? Sorry if I asked a stupid question. Could anyone point me where could I download BAT and BAT update from? I would really appreciate anybody's help.

There is a sticky above for those updates.  However, if you have the version from Aspyre, you are out of luck, and they are PC only.

same with me i forgot my pass word and screen name and i unninstalled my game but now reinstalled and no lighting!!! i think its possible just if u copy the ep1 dat file

Ahhh,
I have the same problem. So I went to the simcity site to dowload it and my account has not been activated?? I activated it three years ago. I said " you accoun=t is not activated yet, please go into you email and activate your account."  
Well guess what, I clean out my email and the link is not there.

Can someone please give a step by step proccess of how to get this file without going through Maxis? Links etc.

You don't need to be product registered to download the update. I repeat, you just need to be registered and not product registered.
