Button text missing, random crashes

Hi there,

I dusted off my old copy of Simcity 4 and the Rush Hour expansion, which I don't think I ever got around to play with. I've run into some problems that I wasn't able to solve on my own.

A vanilla install of SC4 works fine, but whenever I install RH, the game freezes at random dialog boxes (such as teacher strikes), I have a permanent MySims panel open that crashes the game when I click on the evict sim button and of course text buttons don't have any text on them.

I also had an issue with Graphic Rules.sgr that could not be parsed, but a thread further down this topic told me to replace it with a pre-RH copy of the same file, so that problem did go away.

From other posts I've seen that the game has issues with different SKUs. I have a European copy of SC4 but bought my RH during a visit to the US. The EA Support website is rather light on this issue.

I assume others had this problem as well but since this topic only goes back one year, the threads that could solve this problem are no longer visible.

I appreciate any pointers anyone could give.

Yes these problems are almost definitely been caused by you using different versions of the game. This thread here should help you out.

The evict thing was in 638.
