    I was lucky enough to find a new job at Hurt Enterprises, as a secaratary (did I spell that right? Spelling's never been my strength). The pay is alot higher than my old job too, so i may be moving into a nicer place soon...

    The city council has finally voted to get rid of the pointless elevated railway that happens to go right by my apartment. It was built ages ago, intended to transport the poor (the poorer parts of town were at the start of the rail line, where my old apartment used to be) to the industrial districts on the other side of town. Well, nobody used it, and recently it's become even more pointless since the dirty industry has been replaced by high-rise office buildings and the poor district is now mostly middle-class.

    That's better, they've replaced it with some nice modern lofts. And planted some more trees. You can never have too many trees 1.gif

    Well, on my day off from my new job, I've decided to go visit an old friend, Mark Overdale. He lives in Riverville, across the river from Amryai (hence its name). I'm almost starting to miss my old home, my old life, before I moved to the region, and it'd be nice to see a familiar face.

    <ahttp://img259.echo.cx/img259/31/mosapartment1ck.jpg align=baseline>

    Mark's here, and he welcomes me in.

    Hey Mark, long time no see. I thought I'd drop by.

    Hey, what are you doing here? He asks.

    I moved here, a few months ago... I say.

    Wow, really? Why didn't you come earlier?

    I dunno, I hadn't thought about it. I've been busy, buying an apartment, getting a job...

    Mark's been my friend since gradeschool back in my hometown, but as you can see we haven't talked much lately. He moved here a while before I did, and we haven't kept in touch for a while.

    We talk for a while, catching up on things. Mark says he may be moving to Amryai, where his job is. I hope so; I haven't made many friends here and having an old one close by would be nice.

    Well, I gotta leave, I say.

    See ya around.

    The whole Mark Overdale thing may seem kinda pointless, but I want to have someone else other than me in this region to talk about.

    And thanks to gascooker for the UK terraced pack apartments, they're awesome.

    Anyways, stay tuned!

    thanks. does anyone else want to reply? it's getting lonely again...

    oh yeah, and also, i might start a new CJ soon, it's called plymouth and is in a bigger (but still not as big as some CJs here; i'm just terraforming a default-sized SC4 region) region. i'll probably just work on both of these CJs at the same time, but i don't have too much left to do with amryai, and i've been wanting to make a more realistic city, which is what i'm going to do with plymouth.

    Okay, small update.

    <ahttp://img133.echo.cx/img133/3765/newhome30aa.jpg align=baseline>

    Well, with my new job at Hurt Enterprises, I was able to afford a better house, so i bought a new one. It's also right down the street from my office. Litterally. Hurt Enterprises is two houses away from my new apartment. So yeah, I'm thrilled, and I can walk to work now too.

    TORNADO IN CALDWELL

    The region's worst disaster in recent memory occured in Caldwell, when not one but two tornados wreaked havoc in the small suburb.

    <ahttp://img200.echo.cx/img200/2646/tornado15cf.jpg align=baseline>

    The first tornado damaged a few farms, but fortunately nobody was hurt.

    <ahttp://img283.echo.cx/img283/8384/tornado24qa.jpg align=baseline>

    However, the second tornado, which started on the outskirts, destroyed some houses, came dangerously close to the mayor's mansion, and demolished 2 of the city's 3 windmills, leaving most of Caldwell without power.

    <ahttp://img252.echo.cx/img252/4123/aftertornadoresidential8ak.jpg align=baseline>

    This is the aftermath of the tornado.

    <ahttp://img252.echo.cx/img252/3347/newwindmills6dh.jpg align=baseline>

    New windmills were built to replace the old ones destroyed.

    <ahttp://img252.echo.cx/img252/62/recoveredaftertornado2jl.jpg align=baseline>

    And here's the new residential zone.

    Wow, I'm glad this didn't happen here in Amryai, it would have killed thousands. Still, it's pretty tragic..

    Thanks to Amryai's rapid growth (it's now at 251,000), the regional population has now passed the 400,000 mark. However, city officials say the Amryai area will probably peak around the half million mark at the highest in the future; any more development in the region will be limited to more urban sprawl north of Riverville.

    In other words, I'm nearly done with this region. I may develop the top right corner of the region though, but other than that there isn't much left to do. I'm terraforming a new region for my next CJ, Plymouth, which will be bigger (in area) than this one, and may get even bigger still if I figure out how to add city tiles later on. I won't start my Plymouth CJ for another few weeks though, so I'm definitely going to keep updating this one (probably after I start plymouth too).

    Even after all your development is complete, there is still so much you can do with a region. Redevelopment is always nice. Improvement of transporation networks. Densification and gentrification. Beautification. New services, modern buildings, etc. But it's your region, so you can choose to do what you like. 10.gif

    oroen: yeah, i'm planning to keep working on amryai and updating after i start plymouth. nut even though i'm going to beautify this region some more and i'll keep updating, my interest is waning in this region, mainly because it's so small and limiting.

    An original twister in the farmlands.. Just great but then very interesting.. I really like the close of shots of the damage which occurred. Makes it more interesting. Great work!

    Mexicanboy13r: lol thanks, it was inspired mostly by ocean point. one of the towns in that CJ, marshland, was partially destroyed by a tornado, and i liked the idea.

    jacqulina: no, i mainly did the tornado because i couldn't think of anything else to do for an update, and i was bored 17.gif

    i'll probably update soon, but this CJ won't be updated as often since i'm also working on plymouth now. don't worry though, amryai is still alive and well 44.gif

    My job's been going well, and it's time I took a vacation. I'm going to Europe! For a month, I'll be travelling through England, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, and many other countries.

    I'm getting on the plane. It's a big one. I'm so excited, I've never been to Europe before!

    Yeah, I'm taking a break from this CJ. Not for a month, but maybe a week or two. Don't worry though, Amryai isn't dead 44.gif

    Nice CJ.

    You said you are thruwith it. It don't beleive: there is allways something to enhance, make better, change etc. First since RL is like that too, second because the stex never stops becoming bigger!

    Sometimes just small things make big differences!
