In the year of 1880 the region Canda Plains only consists of some small villages surrounded by farmlands that are connected by some roads and ferries.

    HOWEN ISLAND

    1880_Island_Bullsburry.jpg
    In front of the mainland is Howen Island located. With largest village Bullsburry shown above.

    1880_island_valley_pass.jpg
    On the roads to the ferries that connect the island with the mainland the farmlands spread out.

    1880_Island_South_ferry.jpg
    The southside of the island has a ferry connection with the mainland.

    1880_mountainview_farmland.jpg
    At last a shot of the farmlands that truly dominates the region sofar.

    This is al got to change with the arrival of the RailRoads in the nearby- future...

    You should come back, place some comments/suggestions for me, and watch how Canda Plains turns into a sprawling Metropolis...11.gif

    CANDA PLAINS

    In the earlier post we saw the ferry that connects the Island with the mainland. Now let's take a look on that mainland...

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//1880_Rivendale_valley.jpg align=baseline>
    On the other side of the water is the village of Rivendale which is located on the road that connects the villages on the mainland.

    1880_bayside_ferry.jpg
    To the north, where Frasier-River streams into Boundary bay is the industrial village Baypoint where since the ferry connection have settled some heavier dirty industries.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//1880_Talesbury_Old_Centre_1880_overview.jpg align=baseline>
    All the way on the other side of the region is the largest town sofar; Talesbury.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//1880_Talesbury_Old_Centre_1880.jpg align=baseline>
    A closer look on the center with some shops, church and the central plaza.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//1880_Talesbury_West_1880.jpg align=baseline>
    Bit more to the west is the community of Pittvile.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//1880_talesbury_farmlands.jpg align=baseline>
    Surrounded by farmlands this is a typical part of the region.

    This is al got to change with the arrival of the RailRoads in the nearby- future...

    Quick Update Time

    1900_region_trans.jpg
    New sattelite View.. You can see the growth of Talesbury in the West and Worthon in the East..

    1910_region.jpg
    Here is clearly visible that where is a railroad there is a massiv growth of the villages... they're already turining into cities...11.gif

    Yes, the ferries are getting used alot.  Nice transportation system, but when it grows larger, you may need a highway.  Especially if it is on its way to a metropolis...

    Update soon!  Looks great.44.gif

    thanks 4 the comments!!

    the ferries are indeed heavily used!! with lack of highways (it's only the year of 1900) this was the best transport method to travel over long distances.

    but now the railroads have arrived since a couple of years the system is still expanding..11.gif

    and yes; I can tell you the first highways have settled in the region...

    all I can say for now is; STAY TUNED44.gif

    RECESSION-TIME

    It's the 1930's now and you know; the economical growth after the Industrial Revolution comes to a hold..

    Large Industries have settled near the cities and people are suffering from pollution and bad health. With the not stopable rush of the car the cities just grow, grow & grow...

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//1930_region_satelite.jpg align=baseline>
    The sattelite view of the region today.. Visible for the first time are the highways that now only lay around the largest cities in the region; left Talesbury and on the right-hand the city of Worthon.. This last-named city is growing very fast because of the Industries that are settled on the banks of Frasier River.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//1930_region_transport.jpg align=baseline>
    Updated Transport_Map with some studies of the Highway System that is about to arrive...

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//1900_Talesbury_overview.jpg align=baseline>
    You remember the city of Talesbury?? Look at this; RailRoads have arrived and the village grow with sections of Medium Density around the central Station..

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//1900_Worthon_central.jpg align=baseline>
    At that same time the City of Worthon is develloping some more HighRise in the center section of the city. On the right just visible the Industries and Railyards..

    I hope you like it sofar!!

    WE NEED OIL!!

    With the car as most important transport method, the need for oil after WOII is growing. The city of Worthon becomes the central place to settle this Oil-Producing Reffineries..

    1940_region_trans.jpg
    The Updated Transit View of the Region. Most clearly now is the Highway Connection between the 2 largest Cities

    1945_worthon_oil_heavy.jpg
    The Oil Refineries talked about.. This is some heavy stuff going on here11.gif

    1945_worthon_oil_freight.jpg
    With good Railroads, which connect on the mainline of the region the freight is being loaded off here at the docks on the trains.

    1945_Worthon_Oil_Out.jpg
    A zoomed-out shot of the industries that truly have invaded the former farmlands here..

    1945_Worthon_Oil_seaportt.jpg
    Large ships with goods are unloaded at the docks on the eastside of the Industrial Sector.

    1945_worthon_oil_seaport2.jpg
    Also on the other side of the Frasier-River are Seaports and Refineries settled..

    1945_worthon_oil_bridge.jpg
    This large bridge connects the two shores with eachother. With a real congested interchange in the future I think2.gif

    1945_Worthon_Oil_night.jpg
    A final Night-Shot of the Industries.. Isn't it beautiful to see all that lights38.gif

    OUT WITH THE POLLUTION!!

    Beacause of the large Oil Reffineries ont he edge of Worthon the demand for Dirty Industry has plummed and that's why the Industrial Sector near the CityCenter has got to be moved...

    1900_Worthon_central.jpg
    This is an old picture of Worthon-Centre with in the topcorner the Industry that has to be moved..

    1950_dirty_indus_low_dem.jpg
    Here are almost all businesses already moved. Only a couple are still there..

    1950_dirty_indus_trsh.jpg
    Here all the industries have been demolished as well some of the roads. Only the Fire-Station is still there..

    The new land will be filled in with the large BaseBall Stadium and some large stores. The large RailYard will be in place because there is no room anymore around the Central Station(see how it has changed since 1900's first picture of this post2.gif )

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//1950_new_business_Stadium_zoomin.jpg align=baseline>

    An overview of the new area. With large Modern Stores this place is the eyecandy of Worthon..

    At least... For now.......

    You do a good job avoiding only square and diagonal roads.  In the region view the highway looks great.

    I really like the transition from old dirty industrie to stadium and commerce. Very realistic as you can see it happen in lots of cities nowadays.
    Beautiful region too.

    keep up the good work, m8 44.gif
