Dalai Games Inc. presents...

The Lyrics Game

Welcome to the Lyrics Game.  I'm your host, Dalai.  From the title, you can tell this is a game which tests your knowledge of music lyrics.  I'll try to mix up genres.  Hard rock, alternative, hip-hop, rap, indie rock, country, top 40, classic rock, disco, jazz, dance, R&B, new age, ska, reggae, maybe some polka?  Every genre will be represented.

There are rules, as always. 49.gif Heh, I get to use that smiley for once.

1.  Simply guess the title of the song and the artist.
2.  Only one guess per post.
3.  Only one post allowed every 12 hours.  No spamming, obviously. 2.gif
4.  Have fun Googling the answers, even though that would be cheating. 30.gif
5.  If you have some crazy urge to fill in the rest of the lyrics, please avoid posting any explicit material.  I won't be posting any explicit stuff, and neither will you.

This should be fun.  Can we throw in our own lyrics or just yours?

This one has to go to MrVegetable.  Sorry, Masher, but you only got it half right.  The answer is Welcome to the Jungle by Guns n' Roses.

As for fitchy's question, sorry, but I'll be picking the songs.  It's up to you to guess.

#2.  More difficult, and you must guess the original artist.

You leave the Pennsylvania Station 'bout a quarter to four
Read a magazine and then you're in Baltimore

Hmmm...I might have known that with a little research...but oh well, looks like it's over now. People really know their song lyrics!

Nice work, nirgal.  It is the Chattanooga Choo Choo by the Glenn Miller Orchestra.  Listen to the song here .

#3.  This song is closer to our time.  Name that song.

    You blow a fuse
    Zing boom
    The devil cuts loose
    Zing boom
    So what's the use
    Wow bam
    Of falling in love

I got it, for once! It's Phish, with Fee. I hope that's right...I was listening to a Phish album the other day, that's how I know, lol. I might've got the songs mixed up though...

Edit: Sorry for breaking the double post rule, but I'm tired of other people winning, and I just wanted one point. Promise I won't do it again.

This one goes to RadioheadFan.  The song is Fee by Phish.  Nice job.

Quick note:  the 2-post rule doesn't apply here since this is a trivia-based game with its own spam rules.  Also, anybody can post after new lyrics are posted.  The 12-hour rule applies to guesses to the same lyric.  I think that's worded right. 30.gif

    #5.  Name that tune!

I'll even learn to like the taste of whiskey
In fact you'll hardly recognize your wife
I buy some brand new clothes and dress up fancy
For my journey to the wilder side of life

Hmmm...I guess you'll know when they play Stand By Your Man, right? I have no clue, but if by chance it's not Tammy Wynette, I'll guess Terri Clark for an artist.

Your good girl's gonna go bad by Tammy Wynette! My parents were music freaks back then so they have all sorts of stuff. So I have nearly 15 years of this kind of music being played! Like I said, I know my stuff!

Oh, that is old-school, isn't it? I believe it's Doug E. Fresh, with The Greatest Entertainer. I know my old-school hip hop.

I always thought it was called the Greatest Entertainer. You're probably right though.

Ooh, sounds like the Beastie Boys...might be wrong though, I know a lot about them, this sounds a lot like their lyrics. Is it from To The 5 Boroughs?

#8.  So, what do you think?

    Too many men
    Too many people
    Making too many problems

Fairlane knows his Genesis.  That is Land of Confusion.

#9.  So have these songs stuck in your head?

Her folks were always putting me down
They said I came from the wrong side of town
They told her that I was bad
But she knew I was sad
