OK, so I lost interest in SC4 for a long while... but a couple of weeks ago, I was really bored at work, and spent some time catching up on the CJ's here.  They have inspired me to play again 4.gif

It started out as trying some of the things I had seen in other CJ's, so I was just messing around with the Maxisland region... I had originally started playing on this region when I first got the game, so I didn't really care what became of it.  What I found, is that it's really actually a cool map to play.

I don't have a region view, but hope to get one with the next update.

We'll start with the business district of Georgetown.

<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Georgetown-Mar.%2029,%201471110935616.jpg align=baseline>

due to all the ideas that were spawned by looking at things Marrast has supplied, I have built the Marrast Causeway.  This is a highway that connects all the cities along the shore, providing a protected coastline, and a quick, direct route through the region.

<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Haru-Jun.%2028,%20321109713440.jpg align=baseline>

Next is Haru.  The town located at the opposite end of the causeway, and mostly a sleepy little bedroom community to the larger cities along the causeway.

<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Lawrence-Aug.%201,%20111110173417.jpg align=baseline>

Lawrence is a tiny town East(?) of Georgetown.  It is carved right into the side of the mountain.  Although there's not a lot there, the citizens love their little town.

<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Lustral-May.%207,%202181110251689.jpg align=baseline>

Lustral is where you'll eventually find the epicenter of the region... Right now it's a lot of sprawling suburbs.

<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Mancini-May.%204,%201031110858734.jpg align=baseline>

Finally Mancini.  You get the best view of the Marrast Causeway in Mancini.

I would like to be able to create a great, and interesting story like some of you have, but for now, it's just pictures of what I've RE-done after looking at all the great CJ's here.  Any comments would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

M

I like the suburbs, they look almost real, and the Marrast Causeway is a good idea.44.gif

I think I started something, ever since I made New Chicago on the Maxisland region, there have be a bunch of CJs using that region.

    Thanks everyone for your comments...

    SLOPPET... what in particular do you not like about it?  Sometimes I look at it and think it has no ... something... I just don't know what is missing...  so anything you can give me might help. 1.gif

    Just a couple more pictures that I took last night while playing.

    First the University District of Ananda

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Ananada-Feb.%2023,%201211110692477.jpg align=baseline>

    Ananada-Feb.%2023,%201211110692526.jpg

    Next is Javith.  This is hopefully where the rest of the major downtown will develp... but you never know.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Javith-Oct.%205,%201151110984723.jpg align=baseline>

    and the residential areas of Javith

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Javith-Oct.%205,%201151110984738.jpg align=baseline>

    and finally, Mann Point.  I don't really like this city much... but I don't know what to do with it to make it more likeable...

    You're really spreading out quite nicely along the coastal area! And as others have said, your suburban areas look very nice.

    thanks everyone for the comments... as I browse throught the CJ's I'm seeing more and more stuff that I want to try.  I finally downloaded PEG's stream and pond kit... which is VERY cool.  But I don't have any pictures of it yet, because I'm still playing and trying to make them as cool as possible.

    First tonight, we have Balligomingo.  This is on the other side of the Region from most of the population, which is why I let the city center get a little big.  I think this is all the larger I want the downtown to get, and I'll let the suburbs sprawl all the way to eventually meet up with those of the other large cities (Lustral, Georgetown, Javith)
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Balligomingo-Mar.%205,%20931111004805.jpg align=baseline>

    Next are some pictures from the 2 farming communities that i have started.  Burnett and Kale Valley.  Both are south of Balligomingo, and actually, I think that Burnett had been started on the region shot above.  The problem that I'm having, is that no matter what I do, I end up with farms filled with these giant silo type things... and it's not very quaint, or nice looking.  Any clues as to why I keep getting farms full of these big ugly mostrosities?

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Burnett-Nov.%2018,%20101111188866.jpg align=baseline>
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Kale%20Valley-Jul.%2024,%20011111189267.jpg align=baseline>

    Instead of cute little farms like these?

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Kale%20Valley-Oct.%2030,%20011111189291.jpg align=baseline>

    Next is Latanza Waters.  This is the major industrial area located just to the west of Lustral.  In the bottom right of this picture you can see where the Marrast Causeway splits off to the Marrast Causeway East which goes to Georgetown.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Latanza%20Waters-May.%2018,%201761111012508.jpg align=baseline>

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Latanza%20Waters-Sep.%2027,%202141111014105.jpg align=baseline>

    and finally some more pictures of the downtown area of Lustral.  I am hoping to add some really neat park using the PEG stream and pond kit... those shoudl be part of the next update.

    last night I finally got to play with adding PEG's streams and ponds to some of the parks in downtown Lustral... and WOW do they look cool!  In honor, I have renamed Easton Park (Seen in the prior post) to Pegasus Park.  They have really spurred development of the downtown area...

    it's been awhile since I've had a chance to play, but I did get some region shots, both Satellite and Transportation, with and without city info.

    I'll have some time to update this week more... (I hope...)

    Very cool looking CJ. I love the Marrast causeway, though I imagine any local environmental groups would have gone mad at the thought of it being built! Lawrence is a particularly impressive town. I was thinking with Mann point whether one of the rock mods or some sort of wall would be possible to cover all that ugly brown rock. It was the brown rock that made it unnatractive to me. I think limestone cliffs would look more impressive.

    Cool region so far.

    One thing you may want to download is the new BSC Farm Packs.  These new farms are TOTALLY REALISTIC looking.  They also developed what they call BTE Enhanced farms.  Basically, they are farms that now give you specific farm-related rewards.  Things such as a Growers Co-op, like the picture below...or is this the farmers supply company...don't remember...they are both rewards and are both ultra cool...

    <<sigh>> I have had very little time to play lately... that whole working and money thing to pay bills... 2.gif

    I've really only played on 2 cities since I posted last.  First there are some cool things going on in Latanza Waters.  The city approved a major renovation of the City Park.

    Latanza%20Waters-Apr.%205,%2028411126640

    This has spurred some commercial and residential growth in town, and has also brought in more High Tech business, while pushing some of the dirty industrial further out towards the airport and the foothills.

    Latanza%20Waters-Jun.%208,%2028411126641

    Next is Lucrezia.  Basically, I hated the way this city was going, so I just destroyed it and started over...

    Lucrezia-Apr.%2020,%20531112240966.jpg

    Lucrezia-Mar.%2015,%20531112240952.jpg

    I'm still torn on it... but we'll see how it turns out.

    Finally, there is Rubin.  This started out as a town for industry only... but the residential demand got so high, I just couldn't help myself...

    Rubin-Jun.%201,%20611112507350.jpg

    as usual, any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated!  9.gif

    Wow, there has been a lot of development since I was here before. I like the names of the cities, and I see you have done a lot of terraforming.44.gif
