Removing radiation from city?

My oldest city is in year 592 and had a nuclear plant explode about 450 years prior, there is still a large blot of radiation that will not allow any growable building and keeps the environment totaly in the red at all times. Is there any way to remove the radiation by hacking, and how long does it take to naturally go away?

You cannot remove radiation naturally, even if you ran the simulator for say, 1000 years. The alternate way is to obliterate the city, but then you will have to start again. I suppose the Radical Ordinance modd may not reduce radiation pollution as I downloaded this modd and used it before.
