Faster developing cities

My city is around 250 years old and around 45,000 people. For the past 70 years it has been developing incredibly slow, even at cheetah speed.

Is there any way to make the city develope faster?

trick is to build in groups. dont just build 1 city. connect 4 up together and play all 4 alternatly for say 20 years each. you will find that this stimulates growth,

jackel.22 is correct. Shared demand is a really effective kickstarter. If you already have 45k in your city where the city will have already grown pretty fast, a multiple neighbor connection can make growth even faster.

Like everybody said, connecting cities it's the best way to prevent stagnagement.

and build a lot of parks and rewards in your cities, you might have hit a demandcap.
