If you don't mind, can you post the links for the farm and other roads that you used, and also a link for the dock that you built at the beginning of the CJ.

THANKS :thumb:

I love the new ring-road that is underway, those plazas in the middle look awesome! :D Watching the town progress from its founding though the ages is really interesting. Keep it up, this is looking awesome. :)

samima: Well all the roads is a part of Network Widening Mod (NWM), Street Addon Mod (SAM) both of which you can find here (https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/fr_main.htm) just search for them there and you will find them. The docks is a part of PEG CDK which you can download here http://www.simpeg.com/forum/index.php?action=downloads this is also the place to download the farm mod called SPAM. Hope you find what you are looking for!

sim_link: Thanks! Hopefully it will serve the city well when it's finished and the city has grown that much to the east! :)

Update 7 - You can help to solve the traffic solution in Hampton!

Haven't had any chance to make a big update today but I will post a small one. The city council needs your help! We have got a real traffic issue in downtown Hampton now as you can see in this picture below that shows the traffic volume in central Hampton.

    hamptontraffic.jpg

So the city council is asking to outsource this mission to ease the traffic in the central Hampton and also increase air quality etc. The best thing if you want to put in a suggestion is to save the image and paint your traffic solution on it and repost it in this CJ. The city council will then choose the suggestion they think will suite the citys need the best.

    Hope to see some suggestions!

A new update will come tomorrow night (Swedish time!)

...simLink Engineering Services is currently working on a solution and shall (hopefully) present it before the next update...

EDIT: simLink Engineering Services is happy to present its proposal to improve Hampton traffic flow.

The plan sees 3 roads widened to 4 lanes: 2 as Maxis Avenues, 1 as a median-less avenue. The plan also calls for a more direct routing of these major roads, to avoid unnecessary twisting and improve the flow of traffic. The plan also outlines a potential road extension in the future, and an ideal location for a new arterial road as the city expands upwards (in the photo.)

    capebretonhamptontraffi.jpg

simLink Engineering Services requests than should council accept the proposal, that council copies the image and stores it on its own image account, so that we may continue to add more photos to our own service. Should the proposal not be accepted, the image shall be deleted off our own image server.

    --

Hope you like the proposal... :)

Great job on the suburban city :). This is my plan. It allows you to expand more suburbs in the future and take traffic away from the road near the homes instead of widening the road near the homes. It take more efford to build but traffic will flow more fluently than with a widening only. I also made a road to the agricultural area since people working need to drive a big detour right now....

rewright: Thanks! Yes I'm happy how the ore pit turned out actually looked better than I thought it would do. :)

sim_link: Great suggestion there I must say, it was hard to choose between yours or YUUU's suggestion. Would simLink Engineering Service like to open up an office in Hampton, we could have some use for great infrastructure architects! Choose an office building you would like and it will be built where you want it to be. :)

samima: Thoose lots can be pretty handy if you have really bad air pollution. Thanks for the tip! :)

YUUU: Another great suggestion to the infrastructure problem! Really like this one, thanks for your advice. Same suggestion comes to you, if YUUU Engineering would like to open an office in Hampton just tell me! :)

What did you all think about being able to give in proposals and be able to interact in the cj?

    ============================================================================================================================================================================================================================

Update 8 - Largest infrastructure project so far in Hampton!

After the outsourcing to solve the ever increasing traffic nightmare in central Hampton, the city council recived to great suggestions on how to solve the traffic problem. One was from simLink Engineering Service which you can see below. The city council was all over the place when they saw it and wanted to build it straight away. But I managed to calm them down so they could at least look at the second proposal.

    capebretonhamptontraffi.jpg

The second proposal came from YUUU Engineering and now an intense debate started in the city council on what was best to build.

    trafficsuggestion2.jpg

As we couldn't agree on just one of the proposals we tried to merge them together. From the simLink proposal we built the 4-Lane avenue from the Ferry north towards the industrial area. And to ease the traffic situation in central Hampton we decided to go for YUUU's proposal. The building of this new traffic solution which was the first intercity Motorway to be built in Hampton progressed very fast. After six months the new motorway was finished.

    Hampton41-1.jpg

The motorway has two interchanges one larger and one smaller. The large one is named after the motorways architect, down below you can see YUUU's Interchange.

    Hampton35.jpg

    This is the smaller interchange.

    Hampton36.jpg

Right where the motorway beginns the city decided to build a large square with lots of trees, benches, a small resturant and some tables. This square is named the sim_Link Square after the other author of the other traffic proposal.

    Hampton40.jpg

The Hampton Memorial High School, built an soccer stadium to accommondate it's soccer team that has started to become quite successful in the High School leauge!

    Hampton39.jpg

And in the eastern part of the city, the first real and large hospital opened its doors! Now every sim in Hampton has a doctor that they can contact if they start to feel sick.

    Hampton38.jpg

As always all comments and suggestions is most welcome!

Maybe of there will be another project in the future. YUU will open an office in your city :D

Thanks! The new traffic solution works like a charm the traffic trough central Hampton has decreased and most of the commuters are using the new road. :)

There will probably be alot more projects in the future that I will need some help with!

Just thought of an idea now, would any of you readers here like to join the city council? My idea is that you will be Head of a department, say Head of the Transportation Department or any other department there may be in a city. I have been inspired to do this of an old CJ I read many many years ago.

So if you are interested just tell me and I will figure out some kind of city council system! :)

I will also give out a teaser now. May I present the national flag of Cape Barren!

The Blue stands for the oceans that surrounds our great nation, the green is for the great forests that cover it and the yellow is for all the riches we have found in the soil!

Well since the idea in my former post didn't get any response I will probably not do it. :) But anyway here comes a new update!

Update 9 - A new freight dock and a new town!

In Hampton business continued as usual, new sims arrived with the ferry and settled down in Hampton and started to make a living for themselfs. New low density residential areas has sprung up in eastern Hampton, these areas is probably going to have denser zoning later when the city expands more.

    Hampton46.jpg

The first big grocery shop (Tina's grocery) opened its doors a few months ago to serve the ever hungry and increasing population. The population in Hampton has increased from 12000 to over 30000 sims in just a few years.

    Hampton43.jpg

Behind the grocery store some of the more wealthier sims in Hampton had come togethere and built a exclusive private school for their children. They felt the public school system wasn't good enough.

    Hampton44.jpg

To cover the ever expanding city a new police and firefighter headquarter was built just west of Hampton Memorial High. These stations can at the moment cover the entire city with police and firefighting forces.

    Hampton42.jpg

Now to a quick look at the industrial area which is evolving pretty fast and lately more and more High Tech industry has moved into Hampton. Which has lead to an rapid increase in exporting goods.

    Hampton45.jpg

Because of this increase in goods volume the city council decided to build a new port north of Hampton. This project was the most expensive so far and also included a residential and commercial area. The new city was named Northampton and will act as a small suburb to Hampton. Below you see the new houses and shops in Northampton.

    Northampton2.jpg

And here's the new dock, capable of shipping out 1000 tons of goods each day. This port was much needed for the economy in Cape Barren as the demand for iron, coal and other industrial goods from the developing countries in asia is just increasing by the day.

    Northampton1.jpg

In the next update a new gigantic railway project will start, to connect the railway in western Hampton to the new docks in Northampton! If you have any suggestions how the rail would best be built in Hampton leave a comment and plan here!

As always all comments and suggestions is most welcome! :)

Great update! :) Nice new port is looking good.

I find it a bit strange the industry is 'far' aways from the port. But I understand why you did that, to not have to build your town far away from the shoreline...

Good job on the suburbs :)

Really nice CJ! It's like a treat when someone starts with a small city rather than a large metro in the beginning. Also love what you did with the neighborhoods. Very green and beautiful.

YUUU: Thanks! Yes, but I didn't plan to have the port so far away from the industry, that was just how the city developed I guess. :)

    Vivapanda: Thank you!

Archean: Yeah that must be a special feeling I guess! Your BATs is really good I really like the grocery store! Yes that's my favorite thing to do to! Thanks! :)

sim_link: Sounds great looking forward to see where you want your office placed, I will show an overview over the city in this next update you can use that picture to tell me where your office shall be. :)

    ===================================================================================================================================================================================================================

Oh, already update 10? Feels like I started yesterday. :P

    Update 10 - Railway line!

    Northampton

But before we take a look at the new railway project in Hampton we are returning to Northampton once again to check on the development. Here's an overview shot of Northampton.

    Northampton6.jpg

As you can see this suburban town has really grown since last time we visited. It now has over 6000 residents that all work in the docks, commercial areas and here in the new hightec industrial park which the Hampton city council decided would be placed closer to the port area in Northampton.

    Northampton3.jpg

The first coastal guard station was also opened in Northampton to assist any ships that might come into trouble close to the shores of Cape Barren Island.

    Northampton4.jpg

In central Northampton the first railway station was built, hopefully this will be the major way to commute to Hampton and other cities in the future, but at the moment more sims travel by car than by rail to Hampton.

    Northampton5.jpg

    Hampton

Now back to Hampton and I give you an overview shot that the city council ordered to be able to better see how the development has progressed. As you can see the city council has been working hard to get all this development built in the last year.

    Hampton47.jpg

An airphoto over the early stages of the railway project when the embankment was built and rail just has started to be laid down.

    Hampton52.jpg

The railway then makes a turn to the west and crosses the countryside outside Hampton towards the industrial area. This stretch will probably have to be rebuilt in the future so the railroad won't affect the development as much.

    Hampton54.jpg

After that the first railway station was built close to the border with Northampton, another railway station has also been built close to the ferry docks at the other end of the city.

    Hampton48.jpg

In the industrial area the city council put in alot of money to build a railway yard and a freight station to handle all the goods and reduce the number of trucks driving trough the city center.

    Hampton51.jpg

Close to the northern railway station new a new medium density residential area was zoned. Here many apartments has been built after this picture was taken.

    Hampton53.jpg

And in thoose apartments many students live, and they study at the newly opened Hampton University, its campus at the moment hosts a basketball arena and a baseball arena.

    Hampton49.jpg

The university board invested in a large bicycle parking, here they also rent bicycles for a small fee to the university students. All this for reducing the number of cars used to move to and from the university.

ee99: Thanks for the advice! Will think of that next time! :)

vivapanda: Yes I got really happy with it. Looks pretty realistic I think! :)

Update 11 - Changes in downtown Hampton

The city council have made another overview picture of Hamptons current traffic situation, overall it looks pretty good with only a few roads that are pretty congested. If you have any suggestions on how to improve Hamptons traffic even further you are free to leave suggestions in comments below! :)

    Hampton56.jpg

To improve the power situation in Hampton the city council have invested in a brand new solar power plant just outside the city. This is enviroment friendly and doesn't pollute as our old oil driven power plant. In the future this mountain will probably have more solar powerplants built on it.

    Hampton55-1.jpg

In downtown Hampton the building of the first large apartment building was approved by the city council, it houses over 1900 sims. More will likely follow in the future!

    Hampton57.jpg

All of the city council attended the opening of Hampton Central Railway Station, the station has an capacity for over 30000 sims, and it will hopefully serve as the great railway hub in the Cape Barren nation.

    Hampton59.jpg

To give the industrial workers in Hampton an faster and easier way to commute to work a small railway station was built just outside the industrial area, it's used by over 2000 sims every day. And it has reduced the number of cars driving to and from the industrial area every day which is good for congestions and the air quality.

    Hampton58.jpg

As you can see in the center of this picture, the motorway that YUUU suggested has been extended all the way through the city to increase the capacity of some congested roads in the area.

    Hampton61.jpg

In central Hampton a underground plaza was built with alot of shops and it's also designed to accommodate a subway station if the city builds one in the future. Also two highrise buildings has been built, one hotel to accommodate all tourists and commercial people who visit Hampton every week, the other building is Coca Colas regional headquarter in this part of the world!

    Hampton63.jpg

To serve people who wants cheaper rooms than the new hotel can offer, a group of sims in Hampton joined forces and built up the Hampton Motel, their long term plan is to open a motel of different sizes in every city in Cape Barren.

    Hampton64.jpg

As always all comments and suggestions are welcome!

simLink engineering services is still evaluating its building needs, but has set its sights on a location near the new hotel and Coca-Cola regional HQ building... possibly where TacoTime currently sits. More details will be presented to council soon...

We will not likely be submitting a proposal for this project as our lead road engineer is away at the moment. Our deepest apologies.

Everything looks great, Hampton is coming a long nicely!

An airport would be good, you could find custom airport packs in the STEX.

Unlike default airports they just serve as eyecandy, so you need the Airport Tram to make it functionable.

You also need custom houses, those Maxis houses pretty boring :D

Mattb325 makes the best houses, same dependencies but you could only find them at SC4D.

Sorry for the lack of updates I have been busy at school and then simtropolis was down for updates when I was about to update so I haven't had time until now hope I haven't lost all my readers! :P

    ====================================================================================================================================

Update 12 - First highway in Hampton and the new city of St. Martin!

The city council in Hampton is busy as usual, approving all kind of suggestions for future expansion of residential, commercial and industrial districts. Also new infrastructural projects has been approved and the largest of them is the first part of the Hampton Highway that will make it easier from people from the northern parts of Hampton to travel around the city if they are going to Northampton or any of the eastern parts of the city.

As you can see in the picture below this is the first part of Hampton Highway which ends just outside the Hampton Golf Club which was founded a few years ago by some wealthy sims in the Hampton area.

    Hampton70.jpg

This highway then continues south for a while until it makes a right turn just north of the central railway station. Later it will be extended and turn south again to reach the new town of St. Martin that we will visit later!

    Hampton69.jpg

A few blocks from the central station Hamptons first stock market was opened and my companies was introduced to the Hampton Index (Hamdex). This is a great moment for Hampton and it will hopefully bring in more money to the city which can expand our Hampton companies even further!

    Hampton65.jpg

Also the city built a brand new opera house along the Ocean Avenue close to the Coca Cola HQ. The cultural elite in Hampton is so happy for this fine building. The Hampton opera has also contracted some of the worlds best opera singers to bring world class opera to Hampton!

    Hampton68.jpg

Also the first professional baseball team opened its stadium in Hampton this year. The Hampton Wildberries is making its first year in the Major Sim League (MSL) and it will hopefully win it in the coming years!

    Hampton67.jpg

The new town of St. Martin lies a few miles south of downtown Hampton and was founded by sims who thinks that Hampton has grown to big and isn't as calm as they would like anymore. The city consits of a small downtown with shops, a railway station and a parking house and some medium residential buildings.

    StMartin-29Maj021333640331.png

And in St. Martin Ikea decided to open its first Ikea Super store which attracts customers from all cities troughout Cape Barren. In this picture you also get a sneak peak on the high way which is going all the way down to Hampton and especially it's eastern parts.

    StMartin-19Maj001333638763.png

But mostly the city of St. Martin will consist of low density residential areas, like this one. It will make it harder to have an effective public transportation system but in the meantime the residential areas will be calmer and safer for kids than the big and dense city of Hampton! The picture below shows a typical residential area in St. Martin.
