  2. Date: 2/5/2006 8:37:04 PM Author: jmjselect I agree that something needs to be done, I don't have a Grand master plan but a temporary fix for the mean time while something is being thought of and implemented. this would be controlled by a higher power from us common folks here (ie a moderator or similar) start a new topic in the cj section and sticky it, call it something like directory of cjs or whatever, and have like a alphabetical list of cjs(whoever would want to be in it would have to submit it themselves) and it could include a thumbnail of the city, maybe somekind of rating system(however that would be setup, I don't know how it could be done) stuff like type of cj, description, length of cj(page wise and time wise), # of pics(cause some peps only want to see pics), last time updated(not sure if it could be done but would be nice),....... just a directory, so if someone who comes to the my cj section hunting for a specific cj could easily find it. and would make browsing for cjs easier. so what do you think?quote> Oh and also you could have like a Must See section too, ones where the mods vote for a couple of cj's to list, the people vote for a couple of cj's and stuff, and have like a most popular, most scenic,.....

  4. hey i'm all for it, never knew that simtrop hosted
  5. Laurence

Wow it does resemble an american style city, although it's way too run-downed looking. clean up the buildings a little and then it'll look good.
  6. 2 things I would want in SC5 1. non-linear roads 2. non-linear zones okay 3 things, You know those scaled-models of a city when someone is proposing a new skyscraper or building, you know the white buildings modeled after the city, I wish there was a view like that in SC5
  7. City Journal: Recreation of Atlanta

I thought 400 was? I remember a while ago they were doing construction on that near where it ends on either 85 or 75 or whichever hw and they cutoff all lanes except one. that had to of sucked
  8. Metropolitan Avondale Area

***EDIT*** FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO SEE DEVELOPMENT, I DONT KNOW WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN, THE CURRENT PICS ARE GOING TO BE STREET LAYOUTS N STUFF, SO WHEN I DO GET TO THE POINT OF DEVELOPMENT I'LL POST A LINK TO THE PAGE ***EDIT*** ---I have two teaser pics of historical New Haven and Historical Eastborough, page 2--- Welcome to the Metropolitan Avondale Area, Where Success Lives map is New Haven by tf923 Current Metropolitan Avondale satellite pic (1/27/06) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The city is currently being constructed from the ground up. This will be a simple photo and interactive Journal. By interactive, I mean that You, yes You, will have a say in the Metropolitan Avondale Area. Whenever I can't come up with what to do next, I'll ask for your opinion. If I feel like too much of my ideas have been incorporated into Avondale, I'll step back and let you plan the next step. Okay so here is the transportation map of the city of Avondale so far.(alot still has to be done. Avenues and some highways have been laid in the pic) Okay first Vote. Where should Interstate 65 and The Split I65/I20 be built. Should I go with the Blue Line or the Green Line? -Blue line would go thru residential areas and have close access to Down-town Avondale. -Green Line would be a more scenic route running alone a waterway. Whats your thoughts and reasons. And here's where Down-town and Mid-town will be located, and proposed parks.
  9. Metropolitan Avondale Area

thank you, why cant you use ps?
  10. Date: 1/29/2006 10:28:45 PM Author: N_O_Body We will probably be better friends with the United States now.quote> I hope so since we americans are too independent, self centered and too agressive. lol anyways I also heard that canada also has a weed party, whats that all about?
  11. Metropolitan Avondale Area

Okay the eastern part is almost done, just major arteries. rail roads and the most eastern part of I-20 still hasn't been done. here is the most recent satellite pic those are the major arteries and Here is where city limits will be for avondale, hampton, glendale, and rest haven will be. closeup another closeup responses: @ dfnva, yeah those two historic sites are loosely based on historic cities near me, and that is exactly how the parking is, except in some spots theres only parking on the building side of the road. but it works great. @ cjah, thanks, yeah when I try and over do it, it looks very unrealistic(i don't know why?) I wanted to do a regular angle but it the pic would of been larger than 600 wide so I rotated it to be verticle. the spot over the city center looks like a view from a helicopter. so what do you peps think?
  12. Quest To Make A SimNation

you guys are thinking on a small scale, COME ON DO IT BIG, forget about simnation lets create SIMWORLD. now that'll be something HUGE!!! no jk yeah a simnation type thing has always interested me. but like you guys have said, it'll be huge. maybe something like the state of San Andreas would be more doable. san andreas=grand theft auto. it's like a mini-state full of small cities an large metropolis's. have something like 3-4 metro areas and then fill in the rest of the area with farms, land, trees, rural cities,......
  13. Metropolitan Avondale Area

Here's another little teaser on development also what should I name this street?? other than main street Historic Eastborough
  14. Date: 1/25/2006 2:05:13 PM Author:Astroman src='https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//BILTMORE_ESTATE[1].jpg' align=baseline>quote> yeah that is one big --- house, I've been there and just the front lawn part is like enough space for like 15-20 houses. I need to go again its only like 3-4 hours away from me.
  15. "City Life" Poll

first off, what is simtropolis? simulation of a city. right? many cities, one community by this citylife could be incorportated. I think it all depends on what Simtropolis is? a maxis sc site or a site for all city sim games. Personally I don't think citylife cjs should be included in the my CJ forum, however opening up a my CL CJ could be a positive thing, competition, it would create better journals. i don't like citylife so far but including it here be bring positive results. because thats what we're ultimately here for right, is a better city simulation wether it be sc or cl or whatever?
  16. first off, alot of you say democracies when in fact they are republics. and it seems everyone makes this mistake from presidents and prime ministers to common folks like you and me. I truly believe in freedom, both socially and economically. I'm a libertarian and I believe that the people can do virtually everything better than the government, with some exceptions. for instance the katrina disaster, wal-mart(my position on them is still undecided, more on that later) being a private corp, responded faster better quicker in a more efficient way than the government did. another example is health care. now social health care with access to everyone is a great idea but in practice it can't compete with a capitalist health care system. you could argue that not everyone has the same access as rich peps but in a free society anyone can become rich and access it, so the responsibility is up to that person. if you look at the past, america has been and still is at the forefront of medicine and medical technology and procedures. why are canadians coming in waves to america to have medical procedures and stuff???? another example of private enterprise that wipes social governments butt. government schools, here in america government schools have a monopoly. in europe(to my knowledge) government schools compete with private schools and in effect creates competition which in turn creates innovation and a better product, education. here in america you pay for a government school and if you want to send your child to a private school you have to pay for that and the government schools too. and here in america kids today are as dumb as ever capitalism creates competition which creates innovation and creativity and a better product at the end of the day. when the government has a hand in the economy stuff like high unemployment happens, ie germany. look at china for instance, they were a hardcore communist society, when they started incorporating the free market into their economy it started to roar. socially, well I don't believe in government control in personal lives either. I'm even at the point where I don't believe government should marry straight couples. since there is alot of socialists and such here i don't think I need to go in dept here. At the end of the day I don't want the government in my pockets in my life, my families life, my friends life, my churchs life, my dogs life(yes they are even in my dogs life),.........
  17. City Journal: Recreation of Atlanta

I live in gwinnett, atlantians have the longest travel time, i think LA has the worst traffic and we are up there too. and yeah its because atl is spread out. can't wait dude, i'm looking foward to the grady curve, that'll be interesting.
  18. Metropolitan Avondale Area

here's a little teaser that thing in the middle is the old court house.
  19. Simcity where ever I go and it can fit in my pocket. unfortunatly it's not sc4 but 2000 is better than nothing. sorry about the bad quality
  20. Metropolitan Avondale Area

Okay here's another mini update. I have done some of the layout for glendale, probaly 2/3rds done. wait for sunday, that'll be a picture intense day.
  21. Metropolitan Avondale Area

Yeah, you have to have photoshop or a similar photo editing program. for photoshop it's best to have a image that's about 3-4 times larger than the region you are trying to get into satellite view. put the region view in that, goto edit, transform, then distort. then drag the corners to get it in a general square shape then drage the sides to finely shape the sides. It gets really fustrating sometimes because it's really hard to get into a square shape but keep at it and it'll eventually get there.
  22. Metropolitan Avondale Area

Oh Yeah WELCOME TO PAGE 2 I had planned on doing the layout for glendale but my computer is running hot and actin up so this is what I have accomplished for tonight. oh and I also have included a Current Pic to the first post, it'll be the most recent satellite type pic at the top so you can quickly see where exactly metro avondale is at the current time. I do plan on laying out glendales avenue network tommorow, so stay tuned...
  23. Metropolitan Avondale Area

thanks cjah, Yeah I had seen a street map of a GA county and it started from there. and the map, it was one of the first maps i ever dl'd and haven't tounched it untill recently. I liked it soooo much that I had to build a perfect city on it, I've been thinking about the layout for like 6 months and just now started. I was just laying out the streets for glendale and hampton but my computer froze so I'm taking a little breather right now. Okay i'm going back in sc4 to finish what I had planned to do today, so stay tuned... I should post pics either late tonight or early(12am ish) morning tommorow.
  24. Metropolitan Avondale Area

Okay here is the finished highway. it was a pain cause I had to lay it across the curves on some avenues so I had to rearrange some avenues. oh and I also removed some avenues too. And my next project that is almost finished. New Haven the center part will be the historic district and newer development will be to the NW. And here is where New Haven is in Merto Avondale. The newer development of New Haven will be NE inbetween the historic area and the river. Bat or lot or whatever it would be request. I need some walls and a ground cover. I'm looking for a simple conrete wall, no trees or markings or anything just a simple concrete wall. and also a ground covering thing that is gravel or a railyard colored sand. here's what i'm talking about. I've searched stex for walls embankments gravel and sand and haven't found anything. I plan on doing the layout of Glendale next so stay tuned...
  25. Metropolitan Avondale Area

Okay this is what I have done tonight. New transportation view I need to remove some roads, also I went in to put the highway up and came across a really complicated area where the avenues weren't straight so I'll do that tommorow(I have to get up early tommorow). Here's where cities will be and highways and rail. the rail is the gray lines Oh and to better understand how the highway system was setup here's a zoomed out view and where the highways would be going. Avondale is somewhere up in the north of simland and is like a starting point of where important cities are. And here's the next interactive part. I suck at naming water so please help me out. I don't know what 1 would be, like an inlet, what type of water is that? anyways I have to get some sleep, so good night all
