I often like to choose names of faraway places nobody hears of (often). Such names are: Tashkent, Quesnel, Astana, Milford, etc. Look in an atlas and look at all the small towns and villages in say, northern Russia, northern Canada, western Australia, Kazakhstan, and if you want to get more exotic, try looking in Peru, Mongolia, Southern Argentina, and Iceland. Of course, I like English names so I tend to mix and match roots and stems of various english words. The cities in my current region so far are: Dole, East Dole, West Dole, Upland Hills, Medford, Canso, South Canso, Caucusville, Franklin, Sultra Island, Praestigaard(dutch name), Port Ladysmith, Crown Heights, and Annieville.
