  2. Modern Light Rail Station

Looks very cool, could you also make some stations that are perhaps a bit more plain... but this is beautiful and one of these will surely get plopped in my city. PS: more variants of the monorail station would be appreciated as well. :)
  3. Curitiba Bus Stop

If I understand correctly it is only used on high-traffic lines and has proven to be effective because it allows faster boarding and exiting of the buses... so I was wondering if it wouldn't be realistic to let this bus stop have a significantly higher capacity than the usual bus stop?
  4. Curitiba Bus Stop

The name could perhaps be changed into something else but as has been states so often before: This is a model of a kind of busstops that is found in Curitiba, Brazil. It's not meant to be the ultimate Brazilian bus stop and probably most of the bus stops in that city aren't like this.
  5. Curitiba Bus Stop

It's cool, I like having the choice between 5 different bus stops...
  6. Tower Eiffel

  7. Lord Quillian 2 Station

This is great! The best BAT projects so far in my mind are the small ones, new bus stops, subway stations etc. The more variety of transit stations I get the happier I become.
  8. Desktop.. Everyone has one of these!

This is my laptop desktop, a beautiful sattelite photo of home sweet home. My home computer features Lucy Liu being pretty.
  9. Bus Stop Set

a perfect 10! We've all been waiting for something like this.
  10. On the easy level you get more start money, more tax revenue and more demand for all zones. There may be more advantages but I know about these.
  11. When a building is made historical it won't be replaced by other buildings except you bulldoze it first. The monorail is supposed to be the fastest rail. EDIT: Lol, I posted this on the same second as the guy before me.
  12. Someone mentioned these so-called SPUIs before. Here is a photo of one that is in Reykjavik, Iceland. Another not totally conventional intersection is this one which is also in Reykjavik. Like the first one it has traffic lights to control the traffic on the second floor, I put red dots on the picture to indicate the traffic lights. The road going E-W on these pictures is actually the same road, it's Iceland busiest motorway. Further to the west of these pictures is the busiest traffic lights controlled intersection in the country (on a single floor that is) and lately it's getting too congested and an deadly accident spot. It is probably going to be replaced with a strange new type of intersection. It is going to be on three floors. The S-N artery will be buried in the ground, the E-W artery will be slightly sunken from today's level and on the top there will be a roundabout (traffic circle) that handles all turns between the main arteries. I don't have any good pictures of the plans yet but I will keep simtropolis informed when they come.
  13. Post Your Picture Here!

Another vacation picture of me (there is another one in page 4 or 5). This is obviously by the Colloseum in Rome.
  14. Gotland

I do like the terrain, smooth hills and rivers and stuff, very nice. I will have to wait for some more developement before commenting on it but the downtown layout looks cool.
  15. Desktop.. Everyone has one of these!

Yes it sure is, I'm very happy with it. It's called Nucleo NLog v102 and I got it from the official Winamp site I think.

  17. 1984 The Ministry of Love

nah landmark price around $200.000 should do it.
  18. 1984 The Ministry of Love

I like this, just read 1984 this summer. I visualised the ministries differently in my mind but I like your version also. As for the functions, the minstry of love was a prison in the novel and this could be made so also. They probably should hold a lot of jobs and cost a lot of money.
  19. Traffic Noise/Customers Testing...

Yeah this seems like a sensible way to approach the traffic noise/customers factor. Do we know if it is only automobil traffic that contributes to noise/customers or do other commuters also contribute? It would make sense that buses and traffic on the rail networks would also contribute to noise for residents while pedestrian traffic would realisticly add to commercial customer levels.
  20. This site: http://www.interstate-guide.com/alaska.html has the info about the Alaska interstates.

Interesting, neh? ---------------- There's one US state that doesn't have any interstates- Alaska. Alaska actually doesn't have any limited access highways at all, but because of the great distances betweeen places, they don't need them. Also, It's impossible to drive to Juneau from esewhere in North America. There are roads there, but they only go through the city and the immediate area. They don't connect to the rest of the grid. This is mostly because the city has water on one side and mountains on the other three. Nobody's ever bothered or found a need for a road going there.... Just some interesting info.... ---------------- Actually Alaska does have 4 interstates but those are not constructed according to interstate standards meaning that they are not limited access highways. They are interstates however because they are federally funded.
  22. There are quite a few of those in Reykjavik, Iceland. Seems like a popular design with engineers but they are a nightmare for commuters, usually when intersections have been upgraded from plain traffic lights to a multi-level intersection the arguement has been that it would reduce accidents but that has actually not happened with this kind of intersection, people find the forest of traffic lights confusing. There is one especially bad that was constructed just last year, I'm trying to find a pircture of it but I can promise you that the one on the drawing above looks like a walk in the park in comparison.
  23. Remove the avenue median!!!

As I stated in an earlier post, almost all 4-lane+ roads in Iceland have medians, the below picture is pretty much how all multi laned roads look like. And here we have the proposed future layout of the main E-W artery in Reykjavik which is going to be moved few hundred meters to the south to move the traffic away from residential areas. My explanation of this extensive use of medians is probably that we simply have much more space here than in many other cities.
  24. Remove the avenue median!!!

Hmmm, in my beautiful country of nIceland there are practically no avenue like roads that don't have a medium like the one seen in SC4. In my home town there is like a 20 meter stretch of road that has two lanes each direction and a double painted line in the middle but that is probably just because there wasn't room for a median. Except for this tiny piece of road, all 4-lane+ roads have medians and actually there are sometimes two-lane roads with medians separating the driving directions although there is just one lane each direction, I guess our city planners are very nervous about us hitting each other in our cars. So you can see I'm pretty satisfied with the avenue as it is although I've never actually seen medians like those in the game but then again you can't have everything.
