  1. plug ins folder feeling heavy

    Hi pcmcd...well as far as i know there's no limit on how many plugin you can put in your plugin folder: i don't know about you but i'm over 1,5 Gb of plugins! For sure i noticed that when you have really big menu, like the parks one that i think is the biggest for everybody, unless you have a quite high performance processor you notice a slow down on loading speed of the menu...i have an Athlon XP 2000+ and actually it takes a while even if now i have 1gb and 768mb of RAM. But i never experienced any crash due to my plugins . Bye bye

    The link of the beta version you're talking about is dead...when it says download now, it brings you to a page not found...so where is it possible to download them now? Another question...now we're talking about sunken highways walls but at first the thread was born talking about underbridge pieces...on STEX i found those pieces but they are just the straight sections from what i saw...and the diagonal ones showed in several pictures? And also looking through the pictures in the thread there are many and many other pieces shown, but no one is anymore talking about them...are they going to be ever released or is a dead end of that project? thanks for answering to my doubts anyway you've made a really great job buddybud, keep on going!
  3. Hi guys, i have a question about computer upgrading and performances on the game...right now i have an "old" Athlon XP 2000+ (about 1,7 Ghz), a GeForce Mx 440 128 Mb and 768 Mb of RAM . Actually as soon as the city grows, expecially in big size cities, the game gets reeally slow, both for the amount of plugins i have (about 1,5 Gb ) to handle through menus and for the cities itself (i have a quite long refresh time and also think that a city takes about 4 minutes to load and 2 minutes to save a game for a big size city, half filled with buildings ). This evening i'm going to get another Gb of RAM also for some other reasons rather than the game: do you think will i have any improvement?? I mean some of you said that for the game the RAM is really important...but how much? Do you think this new Gb of RAM will improve my play or not unless i change the processor too? I know that i should change the whole computer but for now i can't afford this for my little pockets . Thanks for your opinions.
  4. Ok, now the dark land problem is fixed also for my GeForce Mx 440. But while trying to zoom in and out, rotating the map i found a little problem (i don't know if anyone is aware of this already. It's not a big problem but i tell you if you're interested in this): if you zoom out too much, the map gets like cutted at the opposite side where we are viewing the map from . It's not so important to the terraforming but maybe can be useful try to fix this for future developments of this tool. Here's a screenshot of what i mean (the region is the default London region): As you can see the pink oval shows you the cut: the plane of the terrain is not a rectangular like it should be. If you try to zoom in and out you get to see more or less terrain, just like a sky-line effect... I don't know if this little problem can be fixed or not, i just wanted to tell you so you know about it...

Hi everybody, since i have the same problem as Shadow Assassin ( i get the land dark when a region is loaded) i tried to test those new lines of code for the land.fx file: well at first it gives an error because the program doesn't like the missing value for the texture[0] key (it says: E_FAILFailed rendering shader effect (71): error X3000: syntax error: unexpected token ';'). So i tried to put back the <landTex1> value for texture[0] but the problem persists in the same mode (dark land) in each of the three options you suggested... About the grid, i can say it works (pressing G, if you zoom about to the terrain level you can see a red grid). I hope that helped. Keep up the good work: really nice job (hopefully we will solve our problem too). As a last thing i tell you my specs: GeForce Mx 440 128Mb, 768Mb Ram, Athlon XP 2000+. Bye bye
  6. Hello to everybody! This is my first post, i hope to don't miss anything. I tell you first that i tried to search on the forum for this problem but i didn't find anything. I tried to search the topics one by one but after 23 pages on a total of 114 in the bug section i had to give up (my eyes were squeezing!). Ok first of all i tell you that: 1) i have a Deluxe edition, with all the patches installed ( i have the EP1 Update 1 version 1.1.640.0 but in the ea site it tells me that the latest is the 1.1.638.0 ... when i try to update it it says that my game is up to date ...mah...who knows...). I also have the nightlighting patch ( i think is the BAT patch, right?), i have the building as props vol 1 and 2 installed (in a subfolder of the plugin folder located in my installation path...i had to move all my plugins from my documents to there since my OS partition was full ). 2) my picture of the problem will be posted below 3) my computer specs: Athlon XP 2000+ 1.67Ghz, 768 mb RAM, Nvidia GeForce 4 MMX ( i think is 64mb...), 19,5 gb (dimension of the disk partition where the game is installed...3,39 gb are free), I let the Virtual Memory to be determined from the OS after i had a couple of game crashes (i don't know if those crashes happened because i went with NAM puzzle pieces over transit enabled lots or because i got out of memory...). Ok, now let's start with the problem: first of all here's a picture of it: As you can clearly see there's an empty lot just with base textures and props: this is a 3*3 lot where i zoned commercial...if i click on it i see the panel in the picture: it says that that building is the Billy Bob's Food Emporium. But it's not!! Actually i have the Billy Bob's Food Emporium by Victory in my plugin folder: from what i know is a ploppable building (a Landmark?) with jobs and it's size is 5*5. So why do i get the building (if we can call this a building...) in a 3*3 size and on zoned lands as growable??? And also how come the building itself doesn't appear but i see only the base textures and props? (I remember you that i have the building as props vol 1 and 2 so the problem shouldn't be related to those...i read once a thread where mrbisonm was answering that when those files are missing you can have both brown boxes or empty lots like this one...but this is not the case since i have the files). This is not the first time i have this problem: I had the same problem several times also for those other buildings: Nexis Copper Co., Pan Arabian Hotel, East Mall Court, Nexis Truck Manufacturing, Walton Steel Corp. Milling Farm (sorry i don't remember the authors of all of those....just the Nexis ones that are mrbisonm's if i'm right...). And probably it could happen with many others...i don't know... (unfortunately i can't show you also those other buildings since i deleted the pictures i had about them...). I thought that maybe i was missing some props so I checked all those buildings in the Plugin Manager to see if i had all the plugins nedded and i have all of them, except of a couple that aren't main ones (plugin fences. dat for the Walton Steel and TrainCar_Props_E-V3.dat for Nexis Truck Manufactirung that i can't find anywere...where are them??). Infact if i choose the buildings listed above from the Landmark menu and i plop them i can clearly see the buildings, all with their right size... So why do i get those horrible buildings grow in my little tiny city? Everytime i have to bulldoze them but soon or later they will come out again somewhere...does any of you encountered the same problem (exept Glenni that when he had this problem just deleted those buildings...i would try to keep those buildings in my plugin folder instead...)? can anyone help me to solve it? As i told you i tried to search for it in the forum but i was unlucky...if anyone knows a thread about it just post a link. Sorry if i was really long explaining: anyway i hope everything is clear. thanks to you all. bye bye bergadario
