  1. The Official City Journal Critics Thread Archive

Thanks for the excellent review nihonkaranws it was awesome and it really made me appreciate my work a little more. You put a lot of effort into making this and it shows in both your presentation and read-out. I will have an update very soon and thanks again! Thank you to everyone who reads this as well and feel free to comment on my CJ: Revelstoke. Cheers.
  2. Revelstoke

Hey everyone! Wow, it sure has been awhile since I have updated. I must apologize for the lack of presence on here but both school and work haven't been agreeing with my time schedule. I'm applying for Dentistry College soon so I have to commit a lot of time to it. Not saying this CJ is over, at all, just expect an update soon after my finals. Thanks for your patience everyone and I apologize again. I will put more effort into creating an Update bi-weekly. Cheers.
  3. The Greater Terran Region

This is just amazing. Great work as always Hal, the new RHW looks great. I like the bridges, collector merging lanes, and..well everything. It's just awesome as always and I'm not suprised. Good work bud. On a side note thank you very much for commenting on my CJ review. Cheers
  4. Timbervale

Again I am impressed. I just can't get over how nice your pictures are. The photoshop effects are second to none. Great work. Cheers.
  5. Halstone County

You should have added the transport map. The highway you have there looks great, as well as everything else Marshall. Great work as always I like the forested river as well.
  6. The Greater Terran Region

Hal, I can't wait to see some of those RHW bridges released. Your last update was awesome. Oh, and by the way how did it go with the application? Anyways, awesome as always. Keep it up dude. Cheers.
  7. Revelstoke

Finally Update 16 is here but not without some replies to your comments first. anarchy0029: Thanks for the comments and I'm glad you like the shopping centers in update 15. I hope you will enjoy this one. MTLT_17: Thanks for the comments and another comment on my newspaper, maybe I should make more eh? I will finish the highway eventually but I don't want to get to far ahead of the cities development. How is your CJ doing now? TrentonD: Thanks for the comment and we have talked on MSN already so that's a good thing. I really do like Calgary and I am basing a lot of stuff on it. Keep posting and thanks again. jacqulina: Thanks for the comment again and as always. I'm glad to see you noticing some of the key aspects of my CJ. Thank you very much. Shadow_Asassin: Thanks for the comment dude and here is some more of Deerfoot Trail completed. PS Another comment on my newspaper but hey you did help me create a little bit of it too. Jill Jacobs: Thanks for noticing and keep commenting here is Update 16. x.V.I.N.C.E.N.T.x: My name is Riley sorry for the confusion but I agree too we except I have a little more of a Canadian twist to my perspective. What do you mean landscaped around BATs? SirUnger: Thanks for the comment and I really think I should make some more newspapers eh? What do you think? CarmineHilton: Sorry for the small version I have a large monitor so it was easy to read initially. It's fixed now at least. Nevertheless, thanks for the comment. sedimenjerry: Thanks for the comment! psander5: You always seem to give some of the best comments! I fixed the size, sorry again. Ntq$310: Thanks for the comment and keep commenting. haljackey: Well I didn't darken the photos they are in-game shots but it does somewhat look like that from that angle and height don't you think. But, I'm glad you liked the rest of the updates. Thanks for commenting as always buddy. Benedict: Haha, a lot of cities expand in the desert don't they? Thanks for commenting. GreekMan: Well I hope to see this CJ in the best of the best one day! The University won't come next but it will be soon. Thanks for commenting! Retrodude818: Thanks for commenting and yes Tim Hortons are the most popular coffee place in Canada, (well at least in Regina and Saskatoon). sparrowsraven: Thanks for the great comment and for your own help just search Wal'Mart on the STEX and it should be right there! danielcote: Well thanks for the thorough comment. I am working on mass transit other than busses but major cities still have parking areas. I don't have excessive pollution and my commute is fine now. Once my city hits a higher population then I will worry about placing a LRT system (I already have the routes mapped though). Thanks for commenting and here is your update at last. ky72x: Thanks for the comment! I sure hope you enjoy this update as well...I even included some more cemetery shots for you as well. Keep commenting. haljackey(2): I'm glad you like the RHW (thanks to you!) x.V.I.N.C.E.N.T.x (2): Thanks for the comments again but what did you mean by landscaping around BATs? Here's your update as I promised! SirUnger(2): I'm glad you like the curved roads, I did them myself haha. Thanks for commenting again. pogoboymtk: Haha, nice spelling! I wish ST had a canadian spelling option. Here is update 16. SimHoTToDDy: Thanks for the comments and I'm glat at least one person understands that school comes first, haha. Thanks Todd, and I hope you enjoy this update. roboo1: Thanks for the comment and here is yet another cemetery. newyorkrunaway1: Thanks for the awesome comment! I'm glad you like the region view, nothing much has changed in this one though. As for everyone else, here is Update 16. Although, there was a slight delay in this update I have to apologize due to school but there is not much I can do myself. Well, I hope you enjoy it and I would really appreciate some comments as always. Not much has changed but I can't update without one... I hope you enjoyed the update, until next time, Cheers.
  8. Revelstoke

Hey everyone sorry for the lack of updates as school has gotten the best of me. I will have an update by the end of next week and replies to your comments. In the mean time, here is a region picture.
  9. Halstone County

Great to see you started a CJ! I like the name of the creek, Shaganippi eh? Well the terrain looks awesome and the rivers look even better. Everyone should be rather excited to see what you have done with your city so far. It looks awesome, and it has only been a preview. PS the interchange you showed me IMO was one of the best I've seen (if only the textures would blend)... Well good luck on more updates. Cheers.
  10. I agree the Tri Grand Place makes the update. Great work this is defintley, in my opinion, one of the better CJs
  11. That is some great work here. Too bad it isnt page 2 yet. You have a lot of development (and that's a good thing). Is all your water plopped? I can see some grass tiles beneath the clover interchange....I think.
  12. Eltonville

This all looks like a great start (kind of what my city looked like at the beginning) except I haven't fooled around with farms yet. Great work
  13. Flint, Il (AFDES Member)

Good luck with those graphic problems. I had the problem when my original Rush Hour CD was scratched beyond belief and I had to end up buying Deluxe. I hope it's just a bad plugin; good luck. Cheers.
  14. Teasers of Puerto Del Gio

It looks good and I voted yes but exactly like others have said do it for yourself.
  15. Archandia - Northern Europe Monarchy

Wow. I love your PS effects. That explosion is AMAZING! Seriously, great work though. The first mosaic is awesome as well. Keep it up and don't put me to shame that bad with PS haha.
  16. the Grid City Community Journals

That will look cool once completed; I sure hope this one gets used a little more than the last one (maybe it was due to the self-destroying file). Nevertheless, it looks promisisng but it wont be the same I know that forsure. Everyone has different building styles, BATs, and the maxis buildings are set randomly. I can't wait to see some congested avenue maps tho, haha; a good idea would be a elevated rail circle around the crater, don't you think. Good luck everyone, Cheers.
  17. The highway re-styling MOD has come to great use in here; it looks excellent (and by excellent I mean amazing). Congratulations on 1000 comments as well. Like Haljackey said no very man CJs make it here and your definatley is worthy of it. Great work dude. Cheers
  18. Your CJ banner is nothing short of excellent. I really like the downtown overview shot, but isn't it a little spread out ? Nothing wrong with that but is the whole downtown plopped?
  19. Jargeah

That was probably one of the best teasers I have seen. I dont think I have ever seen a diamond shaped airport though, so this is definatley unique(that's a good thing seeing you have the 2007 most unique region award); however like others have said you should have security fencing around the airport because in real life anyone can just park and hop on a plane. Cheers
  20. Coulla

That last picture has some of the best bridges I have seen so far. I especially like the canal and the seamless RHW transition to an avenue bridge (looks realistic). Great work Nihon.
  21. Republic of Anahuac

Wow you know what this somewhat reminds me of? Is Vancouver, the northeast side though. Thats awesome though, your last picture is the best in my opinion. Your use of custom content is just amazing. That is probably one of the best mosaics I have seen point blank. This isn't great work - it's excellent - just amazing! As you can tell I like your style, well...keep it up (so does everyone else). Cheers.
  22. The Story of Mount Rose and Mount Grace, California

Your newspaper is awesome, really. But like others have said you have a good sense of humour, and that's a good thing. And by the way it's fine that you find it difficult to update, but commenters do help motivate eh? Being in pre-med in university I even find it difficult sometimes. Well, good luck and like I said great work. Cheers.
  23. Westminster

You have a lot of work into your maps and it's great to see your complex your storyline is. That is what a lot of CJs are lackng...well you definatley have that down and you have done a great job.
  24. Switzerland

That region picture is excellent! I really mean it, from your farms, to your lakeside and riverside cities to what could be some sprawling suburbs. I like this a lot and congratulations at over 1,000,000 sims.
  25. Onarka

I agree with everyone else, that picture is difinatley unique, and I like it. The house looks pretty old to, haha. By looking at this picture, if it wasn't on ST, I wouldn't be able to tell if it was Sim City. Great work!
