So I downloaded some maps but....
delboysim replied to end_of_time's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Presumably you did put the map in the REGIONS folder and not in the plugins folder ? Firstly create a region, then exit the game, using windows explorer find the sim city regions folder and open the region you just created, place the map that you downloaded into that folder. Then take the custom bmp you downloaded and OVERWRITE the existing bmp config file. Start SC4 and open the region, press ctrl shift alt R find the regions folder, select the map file from the crated region folder, and the region will render as per the map and the config bmp :-) -

In this map I have tried to create a region with all possible features - there are flat plains, rolling hills, sandy beaches, and harbours. All the waterways are navigable, and there are no hidden sandbanks offshore (which cause your ships to sink) and it should be easy to build bridges without having those ugly steep ramps leading on and off :-) Hope ya like it :-) -

Waterfalls - are they possible ???

LOL Joey - tell me what you would like and I'll create it for you - or I'll stay up all night trying anyways !!!! Anyways - back to topic .......... The pegasus streams and ponds, is a lovely addition to any city, but it still doesnt answer my original question. Is it at all possible to modify the water table in such a way that we can build a mountain and then take a river from say 500m elevation down to a flat plain ? Within the confines of the game programming, the only choice we have is to dig down to the existing water table which is consistent throughout the region, which results in huge canyons, and the river effectively is NOT flowing downhill - in fact, in theory it should not flow at all, as it is at a constant level all the way - there is no fall on the river bed. Come on all you modders I think this needs some thought - your feedback as to the feasibility would be much appreciated :-) -

Thanks for your reply Vester - I found a ploppable water mod and tried it - looks absolutely grotesque. The water colours do not match the ingame river colours .............It made my city look as though a 5 year old had scrawled across them with a giant paintbrush. -

OK here it is, as requested by Goldielocks, the next in my series of astrological maps. As scorpions live in the dry regions, there is no water on this map !!! Ive arranged the bitmap to provide a good mix of small medium and large cities, but please feel free to change it to suit your own preferences :-) -

Ive tested many versions of this map - its difficult to make the map easily playable without losing the appearance of the stars and stripes, but I hope this one will be more pleasing. Its great fun putting in a marina and watching the little boats sail around the star islands :-) -
