  1. Just BTW a c/d highway is a double highway but a double highway isn't necesarilly a c/d highway. On a c/d highway traffic can only enter and exit the highway through the collector lanes and the express lanes have no offramps except at major highway interchanges and ramps to the collector lanes. Some double highways like the double deck section of i35 in texas are double highways but since there are on and offramps on both decks it its not really a c/d freeway. I wouldn't personally call the i96/i75 stretch near the bridge a double highway because it is actually two different highways running side by side but i guess it is debatable.
  2. Maybe 403 isnt a c/d system. Looks like one on the traffic cams but maybe they are just offramps for the 401 and 410. Either way its pretty stupid to debate whether a highway is a c/d highway or not. I have ssen an aerial of the Allen Rd. Interchange but it didnt look that complex. The most complex looking one was 401 at 427 so thats what I posted. It kind of makes sense. Allen road is only a small expressway while the 427 is a major c/d freeway which would logically equate to a more complex interchange. I wish I still had Earthviewer 3d (awesome program for checking out roads) so I could check. Speaking of which there is talk that the 400 may become a c/d highway with as many as 20 lanes! I think it was a proposal on the mto site or something but that would be crazy. 20 freakin' lanes! Who would of thought Toronto had so much traffic. There are far bigger cities with far less busy highways. Toronto with not even 5 million people manages to get 400,000 cars per day on the 401 (busiest highway in the world).
  3. I live across from Detroit so i know the area somewhat. I haven't seen any c/d systems there but i havent been down i96 much either. Usually just i75 , i94 and m10. Since you've been there i'll take your word for it. I think c/d systems are cool and we use them quite a bit here. 401 , 427 , Gardener Expwy and the 403 all have c/d systems (but not for the whole length of the freeway) . As for the US i don't think they use them as much. The only ones i know of are i96 ( from Brandon The Great) in Detroit , i95 in New York, and i90/94 in Chicago. You do see HOV lanes a lot in the US though. I haven't seen any HOV's in canada yet.
  4. I didnt post a picture of 407 & 400 because its just a run of the mill stack (the only one in Canada which is kind of sad if you think about it). But yes I would like to see c/d systems too like we have hee in Canada on highways 401 and 427. The U.S. Doesn't seem to use c/d systems as much as we do and the only one I can recall is i95 in New York . The i96 section you refer to in detroit is where i96 runs beside i75 where it ends just past porter st. and its not a true c/d system.
  5. Highway Interchange Contest

can you just draw it out or something since simcity doesnt give much options for interchanges? And Toronto is kicking ass! I still can't belive how well they are doing.
  6. fun screen shots

What in the WORLD is this, talk about funny....it happened to be FLYING towards the edge of the city when I happened to notice it, I thought what a great pic to add to funny shots! It's lawn chair larry! http://www.darwinawards.com/stupid/stupid1997-11.
  7. Most canadian freeways use pretty nonstandard interchanges (other than cloverleaves or stacks) which is why I would like independent control of lanes. For Example: Hwy 401 at Hwy 427 - Toronto Hwy 401 at Hwy 403 and Hwy 410 Hwy 401 at Hwy 404 and Don Valley Parkway
  8. I think they should give independent control over each lane of highway so you can get creative with interchanges. I would also like to be able to place HOV lanes and make C/D (Collector Distributor) systems like highway 401 in toronto (world's busiest highway with about 400,000 cars per day or so i hear) which gets as wide as 18 lanes .road cams at http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/traveller/compass/. I would also like to be able to have stack interchanges . I think they are cool with all the fly over ramps. Sadly in Canada there is only one stack interchange (Toronto 400 at 407). P.S. If you like roadgeeking you should try out Earthviewer 3d from keyhole software. You can get aereal views of about any major city in really good detail including all freeways and highways. Very cool program.
