Originally posted by: hamsterTK (however, this working depends on many factors including the order in which you open and save the different cites) quote> what are these factors? and can you elaborate on how the order in which you save can impact regional commutes? Do you mean if you have city A --> city B ---> city C. In order to get sims to commute from city A --> city C, you must open and save A next B next C and vice versa. But if you only open and save A and C without B, no commutes will occur from A to C? That would impact the usefullness of the high speed rail...

Gaps in Passenger Train Cars
winonanick replied to winonanick's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Originally posted by: pjot I think that's how it's supposed to look ?quote> Really? I have been playing this game for how many years now and I haven't noticed those gaps between the cars... sheesh I do not pay attention to details... I want to get a new set but just haven't gotten to it yet. -
qurlix - thanks for your input. Originally posted by: 3ddz I think that its realy the best option to replace monorail, so it can be dragable with tunnels and bridges whats really a plus. But only the elevated version can be dragable the ground version will have to be done by puzzle pieces i think, or is there a way to make to different version of one network. One elevated and the other on ground? Here is a picture on the progress so far. Straight and diagonal piece street onway and avenue crossings are done. How ever the textures will change later.quote> 3ddz- I would agree that what you are doing by replacing the monorail is the best way to go. I like the way it is looking. I will be excited to see what your textures will look like. IMO, in your last picture I am not that big of a fan of the pilings used by the old monorail system, did not match well at all. But in the other picture the ramp you were using for a transition from ground to el was great. Thanks for the effort!

Originally posted by: Murakumon I don't get it.. if you can't creater new networks... then what the heck is the ANT network?quote> I believe the people who are working on the rural highway project (RHW) used ANT to creat one way highway sections to act as a rural highway. Could the HSRP use ANT to mod it to its purposes? RHW topic link

3ddz - I like how your example is looking. To all- If it is easier to go with one wide - go with that. My vote for a replacement of a current method of transport would be the monrail network. I would use this as a purely city to city transport network, a stop maybe two in some cities, possibly none in others. I still like the elevated format, but not really wedded to the idea. About new networks, I thought I saw somewhere that there is an unused network in the game, I think the rural highway project used it for thier network. So maybe that could also be a network to use? But not certain about that. Not much technical know how here, but willing to help however I may be useful.

I continue to recieve a PM from the Sim Mars help, even though I have not subscribed to this, third time to be exact I also do not have the option to login, I must click new topic to get a prompt.
-
Two problems I have run into: 1) There was no link for me to login, I had to click on new topic to find a login prompt. 2) I have now gotten two PM's regarding Sim Mars forums posts, but I never subcribed to these.

Originally posted by: beebs Don't work in my IE either, weird. I'm using FF and they work perfectly. Winonanick- Probably. Thankfully, if they don't change it, there are other ways to make a link more noticeable.quote> is that supposed to link somewhere? what are these other ways?

Future of SimCity Official Discussion Thread
winonanick replied to Compromise's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
My latest idea is this... (I can picture and understand it in my head but bear with me)... So you know a large map is the combination of 16 small maps and a medium is a combination of 4 small maps, and so on. Well my thought would be to have a dynamic mapping system. So instead of needed all of a large map open you could open say a section of 4 of them (the equivalent of a medium map) this would make for a more seemless region, eliminating the need for neighbor connections, and neighbor deals etc. You could creat a seemless interconnected transportation network, instead of as I currently do, restricting the network connections so to "force" the sims on to the mass transit network. So your region would be basically be one area with, in terms of the current game, 16 sectors to be switching in between. This IMO would allow more flexibilty on the part of the user, planning would be easier, mapping would be easier (no more reconcile edges) -
in the help heading up above, it talks about blogging... will this be incorporated into ST???

hey the member labels have changed again!

it back...again... thanks for all the work...must have been a poop load

I like the idea of the 2 tile wide variety, and elevated. I am not so convinced about the subway transistion. Tunnels great, but I don't like the idea of this being able to transition to any system. My 2 pennies. I like the intial elevated pics on page one and the draft 3ddz came up with. p.s. is there really a survey? doesn't work...

When Is Mass Transit Neccessary?
winonanick replied to madkingchris's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
mass transit is always needed, imo. start with buses than add a train. your problem may be commute times. I would personally mix your zones together more than you are. You are making your poor sims drive all the way across town to get some eggs... -
what is that for?
