I used to run along this bayou (Buffalo Bayou) in Houston. This is the view of downtown I got to enjoy every day on my run. It is not as large as most cities of this size, since Houston is built out instead of up, but it is my favorite skyline. It is one of several "skylines" in Houston.

Thanks to all who have helped. I saw the program IrfanView in another thread. My greyscales were apparently not greyscales. They are now.

Here is where I am: I downloaded Eaton again. In the folder, I have a config.bmp file that is 32x32. I have a greyscale named Eaton that is 2049x2049. When I try to render, I click the jpeg and get the error message that the size is wrong.

OK. I am going to start over because this just does not seem to work for me. When I open a region on STEX to download, I get a window with the picture of the region (Eaton, for instance). I click download, and a greyscale image appears. If I right click the image to save it to the folder that I created, it will save as a bitmap. If I save it as a jpeg, I get the error message when I try to render in the game (due to no bitmap, I guess). If I save it as a bitmap, nothing happens when I try to render it. I tried to make a bitmap on my own, but it did not change my result when rendering.

It is not rendering now. I click download, and it shows the greyscale. I save it as a bitmap to the created folder. When I try to render, nothing happens. I assumed that this was because there was no map to render. I went back and saved the greyscale as a jpeg, hoping that it would help. When I try to render (using the jpeg) now, the error message looks something like this: Region Generation Error Region bitmap size is incorrect - 0X0. It should be 1025X1025. If I use the bitmap file to render, nothing happens.

I thought of the Prigram File route issue before, but the region is still invisible even when I am certain that I went through the right route. If the config is not a separate download link, then I can assume it is included? In that case, all I have to do is save the greyscale and download to the created region file?

I just started playing SC4 again after a year or two away from the game. I have the instructions to download and render regions, and I vaguely remember the process. However, I can't seem to find the config files on the map window. I can get to and save the greyscale image, but I can't find the config. On a side note, I always make a folder for the new region in my SC4 regions folder, but I can never find the name when I go to "Load Region." Can anyone help with these two issues?

This game can be addictive. It is free, if you want it to be free. http://goallineblitz.com/game/signup.pl?ref=16422691

Thanks to everyone for their help. I usually do not like to cheat, but those highways are expensive. I have rationalized that it is not cheating, since interstates come from federal, not city, money.

I am wanting to build my interstates before building the cities. Is there any way to "God Mode" my highways (and railroads) without the huge costs to the cities?
