Foreword Welcome one and all to my second City Journal! After the unexpected success of my previous CJ, the Republic of Bevelle, coupled with the death of my hard drive, I bring to you The Source. Everything you see here will be custom tailored to my needs. I do plan to release a few of my lots in the future, time permitting. With everything being custom, the city building will be slow, which always has been my style. Updates will come once a week, with teaser shots here and there. I'll only have three pics to start things off right now. The city is not detailed enough to showcase yet, but I'll add a few more pics over the next couple of days. I hope this turns out even better than Bevelle was in terms of both readership and quality. Only time will tell if this is the true Source.... Stay tuned... ~ Dan

ironicepitome: Wow, thanks! naftixe: Ah, a lurker huh? That's alright; I do the same thing here. I happy to hear you liked the piers! Kryptowhite: Thanks for your compliments and your comments, my friend! plug: Yes numerous hours have gone into making this. I'm sure you can make great shorelines yourself, it just takes patience and a little imagination Victor Valdes: Thanks! And you may call me Dan; it's easier to type jacqulina: Thanks, Jacky and congrats on your Trixie! TmiguelT: Thanks, my friend! Victor Valdes: Thanks again for commenting, Victor! Congrats on your Trixie win! Update 22- Green Thumb I'm pleased to announce that The Source has won a Trixie for Best Custom Lotting in a CJ for the second year in a row! I was surprised that I won anything, since I haven't been as active here as I would like. Congrats to all the Trixie winners and nominees! Now for the update! Make sure you click on the pic below for the full-sized panoramic: Have a Merry Christmas everyone! ~ Dan -

Congratulations to all of the 2009 Trixie Award winners! I want to thank everyone who voted for me this year. Wasn't expecting to win anything since I haven't been very active here lately, but thanks for an early Christmas present! ~ Dan -

Teaser Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving! Now it's time to get creative; this time with my transportation network. Here's a glimpse of what's to come: This is a land bridge which will divide FH's rehabilitated waterfront from some of its... less desirable areas. I also have a little plan on make the land under the bridge a bit more busy... ~ Dan -

Muck308: I guess you could call that my "trademark". Thanks, my friend! Larks2242: Thanks! You can call me Dan TmiguelT: Heh heh, nope not this time! Not even a three-week gap between updates. Enjoy it, my friend! Archean: I wouldn't exactly call it "heaven"... maybe a utopia? Thanks for the comment! Victor Valdes: Since you liked that update, you'll love the next update with all its details! Thanks, Victor! Chptrk: Well, you stopped by and that's what counts. Thanks for the comment and I hope to see you again! Petrovar Ambassador: Thought it might help to show tech shots from the LE. Hopefully people will gain some inspiration for their own lots. Thanks for the comment! Victor Valdes: Thanks again, Victor! dfnva: Nice to see you again, Dan; thanks for commenting! ironicepitome: It's all imagination; all you have to do is dream big! MCO1254: I love to use Spa's BATs in this city due to the nautical theme; they always fit right in. I'll be using a few more of his buildings in this update, so keep an eye out for them! Muck308: Always good to know that my work can be inspiring. Thanks again for the comment! art128: Thank you , Arthur! You'll see a bit more of it in this update... Petrovar Ambassador: Thanks! Update 21- A Site for Sore Eyes I think we'll just get right into it now... Only disappointing thing here is that I was unable to add props to the white area of the large building in the center of the mosaic. That's due to that white part being included in the model, so props can't appear on it. But the building is too good not to use! This has become one of my favorite shots. The buildings here go well with the revitalized nautical theme going on in FH. Here's the big finish: a panoramic shot of the new Pier 5! Click on the pic above for the full shot (Warning: Almost 3 MB!) Enjoy! ~ Dan -

Teaser Well, I've made some progress on Pier 5. Still quite a bit left to do; my Lot Editor is getting quite a workout ! Here's what was shown in the previous teaser shot. Now let's take a look at a small bit of progress: The small bus depot shown here will be replaced by... well, you'll see. The lot will remain a static construction site, just to add some depth to the city. This shot is a couple days old, and some tweaks have been made, so look out for that in the future. Until then... ~ Dan -

Teaser Back already with a teaser ! The creative juices are flowing, but this time I decided to do a revisit: This is an old shot of Pier 4. If youlook closely at the LE pic, you can see subtle changes have been made to this lot. Now I am working on the fifth and final main pier for Francis Harbor (FH): Here's a couple of Lot Editor shot of the lots in progress: Another lot (19x16 tiles) will be the third lot need to make up Pier 5. Again these are all rough sketches, so further refinement will come. I'll keep everyone updated on the progress as I go along... ~ Dan -

Victor Valdes: Well thanks, Victor, for finding the words to comment! jacqulina: Thanks, Jacky! SC4BOY: They actually are R$$ townhouses, even though they may not look like it. I try to make all my cities pedestrian-friendly; before I was able to drive, I myself was a pedestrian . Thanks for commenting! bluemoose: Well it takes me weeks to get an area just right! Thanks for the compliment! TmiguelT: Nice to know I still got it . And you only had to wait two months for this update ! Simbourgeois: Well, thanks for the very complimentary comment! You'll be able to see more lotting in this update as well... tankmank: Thanks! Schulmanator: Thanks, man! It might not be "soon", but here's more! Muck308: Yes, the BAT is good, but I didn't care much for the lot. Glad you liked it; it took a while to get right! art128: Thanks, Arthur! Update 20- Urban Revival Well as some of you may or may not have heard, I broke both of my wrists in a work accident a month ago. I have been at home recovering and was finally able to scrap together, in my newfound free time, an update. Please note I'm working on filling in the barren spots; this is what I have to offer at this point: The next update is already in the works, so I'll be back soon! ~ Dan -

Teaser Thanks for your comments, guys! I have a small teaser to share with everyone today. This is a rough draft of the overlook area, showing some of the lots used before props were added. Here's a zoomed-in shot of a portion of the same area. The full update will come in the future. Stay tuned! ~ Dan -
Damn, that's a real shame, John. I haven't been around Simtropolis lately but I had to stop by for a quick hello. Hopefully you'll be able to rebuild your PC and get things up and running again one day... ~ Dan

SODATWIN: As I've always said, all it takes is imagination and patience, then anything is possible in SC4. Thanks for commenting! blue sinjid: Yep, many hours of lotting went into those pics. Glad you thought the wait was worth it, since this new update took even longer to materialize! TmiguelT: Yes, thanks to lot-resizing, I was able to retexture the base texture underneath the rails. Although I now realize it isn't as realistic as I wanted it to be, it is different. And you only had to wait three months for this update! Patricius Maximus: Thanks, my friend! I indeed have more to show in this update, so I hope you aren't disappointed! Nardo69: Yes, you do have to be a bit crazy to take on a project of this size! I agree with you on the rail textures; I was going for a look similar to the GLR, seeing as the GLR currently doesn't have wide curves. Hopefully in the future this'll be implemented into the NAM! Thanks for your opinion, Bernhard! Update 19- Phoenix Rising Yes, it is time for a long awaited update! Let's see if I still have it ... ... and for sticking with me, a special panoramic shot for everyone! Just Click Here to view it! Enjoy! ~ Dan -

jacqulina: Thanks, Jacky! art128: Thanks for visiting, Arthur! jonpaulosiglos: Well I'm glad you took the time to visit. Thanks for your comments and I hope to see you here again! Archean: Oh yes, hours of work is put into just a few lots. The reason this update took so long was because there were a lot of new lots to make! jrhnemo: Thanks, my friend! Teeparex: Good to see you here, my friend! Glad to hear you like this CJ as well! TmiguelT: Wow, thanks for the flattering comment! I don't know if my CJ is the best or not, but I do give it my best efforts. Hope to see you back soon! Petrovar Ambassador: Thanks, my friend! WillG_75: I trust you got the PM I sent your regarding your question. I hope to see you put the BAT to good use! jacqulina: Thanks! tankmank: Thanks, my friend! art128: Thanks again, Arthur! Update 18- The Big Picture Hopefully I won't take nearly two months to update again ! Let's see if it was worth the wait: Sorry for the glitch in the second mosaic! Here's a bonus panorama shot that can be seen by Clicking Here! ~ Dan -

Fresh Overviews and a Small Teaser Okay, after a short hiatus we're (almost) back on track! Just as a refresher course, here are a couple overviews of FH as is stands right now: This is the area shown in the last update. It will become FH's Downtown District. The Harbor. I apologize for the vast emptiness in these two shots, but these things take time! And now to the future. Here's the next area I'll be working on: Kinda barren at this point, but this is actually an old pic. What I have right now, well you'll just have to wait and see! Again, sorry for the inactivity here as of late. I'll do personal replies as soon as I can. Thanks for sticking with me! ~ Dan -

Schulmanator: I hope to do just that. Thanks! Hawkeye9: Thanks for your generous comment, my friend! bluesinjid: That's all right; I haven't been active much myself lately, either! Thanks for stopping by! art128: I'm always appreciative of your support; thanks, Arthur! tankmank: In this update, you'll see the area (mostly) complete. Hope you enjoy it! Shingure: That has always been my favorite building of that shape. Its style fits in almost any setting. Glad you liked it as much as I do! Twenty20: Thanks! Muck308: Thanks for the comment, my friend! jacqulina: Thanks, Jacky! GMT: Thanks! knarfmo: In my opinion, the textures on lots are just as important as the props are. Thanks for taking the time to notice! Update 17- Green with Envy I finally present a proper update! Still no cars or trains can be seen in these pics because the game clock still hasn't been started. And here's a little something new; a panoramic shot of the train station. Click here to see it! Enjoy! ~ Dan -

jimbo_jj: Glad you liked the lots, my friend. Thanks for commenting! Shingure: Yes, it took many hours creating and testing these lots.
