I had the same problem with it crashing as the logo would first start up.... I was using the intro off setting in the startup link.... I removed it and the problem went away..

And the STimstm rejoice ....... for now anyway

It's funny to hear the complaints about the layout... and how 6.0 is wanted back/what was wrong with it..... someone on staff needs to pull up some of the post from when we went from 5.0 to 6.0....... and how folks hated it... wanted the previous version back.... I have been getting two to three minute page load times... is that about the same for everyone else? I also noticed earlier {before the site went off-line again} that there were some threads created by a single post count member advertising a product like the robo spam'ers do on some sites. I know Dudyconstrctor had the same problem on his SC4 site and me and the other mods had to spend alot of time clearing them out. I know that was what brought his site crashing down before the host could impliment the patch for it... just thought I would give a heads up.

Gran Turismo is a bad example, they had a working "Gold" game more then a year and a half ago... but at that time the exclusive deals with the F1 series and NASCAR were not final.. those were added... and it takes time to get the tracks and cars implimented into the game...tested and such... but the problem with many others often comes from the release dates being set between the distributer and point of sale reps... and often dont have anything to do with the developers. other time it involves what happened this year... many of the games that were planned for this years release were pushed back to 2011 to impliment hardware changes such as move and kinect.

This whole deal has gotten totally out of hand... let then build it.... and did you all hear that a mosque and community center was set on fire in Tenn.... what the hell is wrong with us in the US. I dont personally believe in god... but it is one of the most fundimental rights that we have as americans... how can that not be any more clear...

I cant answer if this is the right place... I dont see why not... but I would love to see the tutorial.

hey ROFLyoshi, it seems that the 3d picture displaced image is off to much making it very blurry... I have a little tutorial for making 3d images... it might be helpfull... www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm

How to Create 3D Effects 3D is the big thing in gaming these days, just look at any of the coverage from E3. Well I have a sweet little tutorial for you all on how to create simple 3D effects for you journal images, without the need to plop down 3-4 grand. So take any image you have taken in SC4.. here I have borrowed some from ilikehotdogs journal World. Open it up in photoshop. Do any editing that you intend now. Create a new layer... Now is the time to create a hight map... Black being the highest area... white being lowest. Meaning the areas that are the darkest will be the areas that stick out the most.. Below is a quick hightmap created for the above image... now I just did a simple quick map... you will want to do a lot cleaner one I am sure. Copy just the hight map into a new document... (select all ctrl-c open new doc crrl-v). Save that image as Displace. Close that doc and go back to the origianl image... you can now get rid of your hightmap layer... you wont need it anymore. Make a copy of your origianl image layer.. On the copy layer go to Filters/Distort/Displace You will get this menu... use the settings I have here. Now on that same layer.. go into the blending options menu.... and uncheck the red channel as I have done below.. Here is the final image.... Now just get yourself a simple 3d glasses... (I made my own from a sheet of clear plasic and colored the lens... just make sure that Red is your left eye here are some others I have done Well thats it... hope to see some of you'all trying this out in your journals..

MC did something that very few other developers are doing... trying to expanding the horizons of a game catagory that most in the game community beleive to be dead. They took a huge chance and we should thank them for it. stop being jerks and pissing on the guys and gals that were trying to bring to us a game that many had hoped would have come from Maxis. Put aside the pay-play stuff and you have a solid city building game... that had many things that we had hoped the next version of SC would have. Remember that Maxis had three previous tries to create the game that ended up being SC4. MC on had one other try. so before I wear out my welcome on this soupbox I would just like to thank the folks at MC for giving it their best effort and I know that there isnt much that can be said that could make up for the uncertainty of losing your job... other then to say that that you are friend of this community and we hope that whereever you end up in the industry... that you keep in touch.

I fell so great... payed $60 dollers for a online city building game and got a broken single player beta.... now I get to pay again for the crap I already bought... stuffed into 4pay download packs...... and pay anouther $60 for then game I wanted in the first palce...... NOT A CHANCE IN HELL! Monti CHristo..... you will not see anouther damn dime from me... thanks for putting out a crap game, and killing the city sim gener. who out there thinks that any other developer is going to risk putting out another one now....
