if they wanted to make some serious money with little cost, they should of released another expansion ~2006 or 2007 (around the time of a new OS like vista), the golden age of SC4. that easily could of been a profound stepping stone to this game today, with most likely more improved outcomes. the long absence has no doubt affected the outcomes.

SimCity Developers' Reddit AMA Swiftly Turns Into WTF With The Online-Only DRM?
jigsaw commented on Freddyeddy's article in News
im seeing a 3 way fight going on.. community>maxis<EA . Maxis are stuck in the middle, and i think everyone is forgetting what the game was, what the game is, and what the game will be. EA have their mandatory parameters/requirements that must be included, and we have our demands. Maxis is trying to create something from both of these demands.. we will just have to wait and see what the 'translation' of these demands turns out to be -
1. some regional shots in detail and menus in region shots 2. how about some complex cities that are using different forms of architecture... or is it all 'american' cities? 3. railway stations

SC4 still holds the title of the ultimate City sim. CXL has tried to take the audience with little and mixed success. now that SC4 has a new younger brother arriving in SC13, do you think they will continue with the game? the way i see things: - if SC13 doesnt please the masses, we can/will fall back to SC4, the CXL game will crawl along but their will be 3 city builders in the main arena. - SC13 kicks ass, Sc4 will slowly retire over a period of a couple of years and CXL might just die a quick death. nothing against the CXL game at all, it's just doesnt have 'lineage' like a Maxis game. out of a potential 3 way game market, maxis will have 2 of them. what's your thoughts?

What Do you want to see in a CJ ?
jigsaw replied to dabadon5's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
More region shots/city shots. too many close ups with a 2 page story. i dont care for a single building, i want to see how other members make cities, their road networks, unique city charms etc. etc. you dont see too many CJ's these days with quality whole region views. -
Maxis Visit, thoughts and impressions
jigsaw replied to Dirktator's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
off topic, but in a nutshell; to Maxis: we want a blank canvas and a palette of paints, not a connect the dots game. Mass Customization vs. Mass Production SC4 reigned supreme because of lots of the little things that were there; bitmaps for region shapes/sizes, greyscale rendering for our own maps, BAT, Lot editor. create tools for us to paint our own pictures... and you will succeed and win. not just glassbox for data, we want exactly the same for world creation, style creation, and to make the game personal.- 158 Replies

Maxis Visit, thoughts and impressions
jigsaw replied to Dirktator's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Dirk, Zel, 1. did you ask them at all why they didnt even consider another or more SC4 expansions? why the long absence? 2. do you think they will adopt the same strategy as SC4 and have a 'rush hour' expansion to encompass more? 3. do you think they will ditch Simcity for good if this flops? 4. where do you see the core community going? SC4 or SC13? 5. and finally... any of the community members working there or for them by any chance?????- 158 Replies

you've got 100's of our questions already. have a re-read through the forums and please try and answer as many of them as possible. im over the whole online-only complaints. there are lots of other hard-pressing issues to chase up. chase up the following: - highways - community mods/bats - tilesets/themes - city tile sizes -farming? and most importantly: support. is there a long term plan for expansions and sequels? we were in the dark for 8yrs last time.

Do you think we will see a sequel to SC13'?
jigsaw replied to Zombeast's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
i think they will do an expansion akin to the RH pack. and i have faith that the SC13 RH expansion will be the game we use for years to come, not the SC13 Vanilla game. it is what they did with SC4, and im feeling that this is what they will do again. the quantam leap between SC4 Vanilla and RH is what we were after. -
when they have the disposable, patch, 'all graphics no substance' approach to gaming it's their own fault.

Just saw simcity at gamescon 2012 press conferance, no community concerns addressed
jigsaw replied to kwetzel345's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
i wish everyone would remember when they released SC4 Vanilla, then the changes SC4RH expansion released. im suspecting the same approach is going to be used. stock game > expansion do we play SC4 Vanilla? no we dont. -
if someone from Simtropolis is going, how about trying to hit them up with some of the hard hitting questions, and find out if they are reading the negative feedback on here??
-
unlike most of you, im going to just sit back and wait, and see what it's like when it gets here. a lot of you are just creating a melodrama at the moment. im waiting of news about other things... like developer support/sequels. they left it idle for a decade, now they are back. this glassbox engine sounds great, but let's see if we get a decent sequel/expansion after the game's release. just remember noobs, SC4 Vanilla came out first then, the RH expansion gave us what we needed. with no RH, there would be no community now IMO.

can we lock the news page so they have to submit them to mods first? leave it for fresh news only with something to offer -
Maxis Will be Answering the "Best and Hardest Questions" About SimCity
jigsaw commented on The Avatar's article in News
i dont have a EA/Origin account (as yet) so i can't/won't bother to ask them a question on their site, but if i could, i would ask them this: q: would you please do a Q and A on simtropolis the world's biggest SC4 fan forum? -
It's obvious that Maxis are still doing the rounds with different outlets giving interviews. why have they not done a single interview to a dedicated audience that has done so much to keep their current game going strong? are they avoiding us? i really hope that ST approaches them for an interview. they know we are out there, but all we see is interviews with mainstream game sites. i can only assume they avoid us because we will ask the really big, deep questions, and our responses might 'make or break' peoples perceptions on how the new game will be still.. once again i ask, can ST get an interview and ask some of our questions to them?
-
in all honesty, i think they are avoiding us, yet at the same time acknowledging us. they are avoid the heavy hitting questions, the ones that only the community would ask, for that would reveal too much... more than they want to release at this time.
-
most of you are hung up on the online issues, but there are a lot more things that need to be asked, not just multiplayer how about mod/bat/customising levels of opportunity? terraforming? map making? tilesets? ongoing support/updates from maxis, including expansions? how about we try and squeeze more info out about these issues. they are going multiplayer guys, and they have said it a million times. wait until it's released, move on, and maybe let's try and get some other important issues found out
-
they have done a few public interviews, addressing the game to the whole world, we need a session with them just for us, the dedicated fan, that can ask the big questions. dirk, can you get an interview with these guys?
-
this game's success hinges on how or if we can add mods/BAT's etc. we added so much of our own stuff. all they have to do is create a great usable engine, the community will do the rest. it all depends on how much they will let us do.

Poll: How much would you pay for subscriptions or additions?
jigsaw replied to Mark Waybill's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
i will pay for anything if it's worth it. i have all the STEX/LEX discs, and i have even bought an entire new computer years ago JUST to play SC4. if it's worth it, i will get it. but i will cringe if advertising is used in the game... if i pay, it should be add free. -
Your Questions for Maxis (for March-April 2012)
jigsaw replied to Kevin's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Q4: final question. SC4 is not just about buildings, it's also about transit networks, geography and nature. in the last few years, the level of detail that the custom community has developed has evolved to a large palette of nature... rocks, grass, trees, canals, ponds, waterfalls etc are now a vital part of our works. will this be catered for? we have seen the city-building side of things, do you have more info on the world/terrain side of things? **seperated to be individual questions as requested -
