  4. Scottys stuff

sweet!! you're getting through these pretty fast haha. ooh, have you thought about doing an updated Sky Tower? I don't know if it's just me but the one I use in the game that's already on the STEX (sam_lawrence) doesn't seem to be of the right measurements/perspective?? Plus the base could do with some jazzing up haha. http://www.azza.co.nz/skyjump-4.jpg http://lloydi.com/travel-writing/round-the-world-trip/country/04-new_zealand/north-island/01-auckland/images/manda-foot.jpg http://www.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=auckland&ie=UTF8&ll=-36.848689,174.762703&spn=0.002155,0.003396&t=k&z=18&om=1 I love using the sky tower in my cities though. It add's an extra "umph" into the city, makes it looks heaps better.
  5. Scottys stuff

    sweet!! loving the glass!
  6. Scottys stuff

looks really good! can't wait to use it!! I tried looking around for some pics of queen street but couldn't find much for this particular tower, how annoying!
  7. Council House BAT Project

looking really good!! i'd probably make the roofing tiles a little more darker, so they have more of a rustic/worn look, otherwise it looks a bit more like a private semi detached, not a council house! http://weldgen.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/council-houses.jpg
  8. Scottys stuff

aww man, that sucks!! i was loving your work!! hope you do carry on because you're coming up with some sweet designs! what about some residentials to include? im loving the houses on http://www.mygjwishlist.co.nz/wawcs0128442/tn-house-plans.html especially the family ones, some of those would look sweet as in SC. http://www.mygjwishlist.co.nz/wawcs0128450/family_series_150-200sqm.html

Wow, I was just looking through the towers of Auckland and I found this beauty: http://www.emporis.com/en/il/im/?id=352551 I can't believe it was never built!!! 145m and 25 floors. damn sexy!!

  13. Scottys stuff

Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!! I'm working on a New Zealand/Australian City at the moment for my first CJ and am starting to build up BATs and list things I want to use. Excellent work you got there!! Can't wait to see more!!! Really good to see non-american and european towers finally!!
  14. :Australia:

yes yes yes!!!! i would LOVE to see a darwin!! we need way more australian stuff about on the stex!! oh also, i meant to say aswell, for the australian styled homes, have you checked out these by thesdale - they look AWESOME in suburbs: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?page=1&Keyword=thesdale&view=all
  15. The United Republic of Kreveshk

Wow, really nice CJ! Loving the start of it and your newspapers, the weather is a real nice touch too, adds that extra realism into it! Can I jsut ask though, i've been searching for those avenue textures and I just cannot find them anywhere, where did you get them?!
  16. London's skyscrapers

It's nice to see some more skyscrapers in the UK. It's one thing I HATE about UK Cities, the fact they're so spread out and not built upwards. It's really annoying actually. Our Cities could look so much better by having some new looking skyscrapers and key landmarks like other cities have, for example the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Auckland SkyTower. Things which places like Birmingham and Manchester could benefit from. I have to say though, canary wharf looks AWESOME at night!
  17. The World's Best Cities

Good to see some Oz and Kiwi cities in there! Go Auckland!!
  18. An Open Letter to EA

I definitely think that you'll get more of a response by having each person send an e-mail/letter through the mail to EA/Maxis rather than 1/2 emails with numerous signatures. Power in numbers and all that, i'm sure when(if) they received say, 500 e-mails/letters it'd spark some responses and have the complaints department running around in circles. I mean let's be honest here, in a perfect world with 100,000 SC4 fans from Simtropolis found out about the perfect SC5 game selling at $50, that's still $5m. You could do numerous things, you could (like already suggested) run internet petitions and send them off to EA, have people writing e-mails and letters and definitely contact the game websites. The media loves a good bit of gossip and im sure the game sites would love to hear the fans opinions. Especially if the fans were saying that they can't wait for Monte Cristo's next game and that they won't be moving from SC4 to SCS any time soon unless SC5 is released!! I know i'd definitely send an email and letter! SC4 is great but if EA contacted the admins of the biggest fansites asking them to collate all of what their members wanted to see in the next edition of SimCity and then developed appropriately i'd have great respect for them. Not only for actively listening to the communities but for developing what their customers actually want!
  19. NHN Venture Tower

    WOW
  20. Cities Unlimited

I'm liking the way this sounds, can't wait for the autumn now and to hear all the features of said Cities Unlimited. I was quite interested by his casual approach to the weather/disaster question. It was almost as though he wanted to say but he worded it in a way to let us wonder about it. I bet after the launch of SC they went straight in and thought "this is what we need to do to convert the simtropolis peoples!". at least... i hope so ;D
  21. City Planning Tool

For me personally, I only ever plan the simple things. I like to get the basics first, I'll draw out the region on some plain A4, plot where my CBD is going to grow from (in the future, naturally) and any key areas, like my key roads, connections and other transport. I then consider things like the direction i'd like my city to grow in (where the most construction-friendly land is haha) and then just carry on playing. I'm a bad planner personally and I think you can't really be too specific until you're playing your game and know how things are going. At the moment i'm building a really good city (touch wood) and everything is going great so far and its quickly getting to the 100,000 mark whereas some others of mine recently have struggled to get to 50,000 for some reason. In this city I've just gone with the game and how things seem to pan out when i'm playing it. I think it's good to plan some cities though and know the jist of how you'd like things to turn out.
  22. SC4 RH Universal Binary Patch Released!

just took the UB for a test spin. haven't noticed many changes between using it with rosetta and having it universal. whilst that's a good thing for apple's rosetta, not such a good thing for me haha. having said that though, my menus are faster and there isn't so many bumps/laggy moments within the game when zooming or travelling/scrolling. things appear to be a little smoother but nothing drastic anyway. maybe i'd of noticed more of a difference if I had more RAM, i'm only powering my macbook with 512mb atm. which reminds me, i must upgrade this at some point!!
  23. New York City

There's some really awesome pictures there, i went to New York last March and wish I had took even more photos than I had. It's the only city in the world that I actually miss!! I was only there for a week and there's still things today that I wish I had gone to see etc, definitely want to go back in the future!
  24. Intel Mac Users

it's probably just because it's running through rosetta. obviously rosetta is having to translate the game so it'll run on the Intel Processor under the assumption its PPC, so until the Universal Binary is out by Aspyr, got a bit of a struggle unfortuantely.
