I just bought SC4 (stand alone ver.); and I'm playing it right now. I also installed the latest patch. My specs: ibook G4 (4 months old) 1.2 GHz and 768 RAM All other applications are turned off. My graphics settings are medium. My city is not huge, but it does have a couple of skyscrapers with about 62,000 Sims. It doesn't run crispy fast; rendering before each session is kind of slow. Overall, I still think it runs OK, and I have no regrets buying the game.
