  1. New city plan... thoughts?

yea, u hav to hav little business districts all around ur residential areas. That way, each neighbourhood has their very own grocery store and they don't hav to travel halfway across townto shop. Also, i would lower the amount of dirty industry and probably move the high tech closer to the business district, but thats me. Other than that i think the layout is great. 50th post!! lol
  2. SC4 Deluxe Problem!!!

fer some reson, it seems everytime i add 2 many downloads from simtropolis, sc4 doesnt allow me to access my cities, it works until the loading screen, then freezes, i decided to delete most of my plugins and downloads, and then it worked, does this mean i cant hav 2 many downloads, or is it jus a coincidence
  3. Pollution

I've had a pollution problem since ever since I started this city. It is on the large square tile. Half my city is covered by trees (from god mode) cause I'm only done half the city. I have mostly high tech industry. Still my pollution is off the charts!!! Out of 100 percent, my city is developed 50 percent. The other half is trees and parks some from mayor mode, but most are from god mode. But my environmental advisor still is red. I have all three types of industry. I've taxed the dirty industry 20 percent and lowered taxes for hight tech to 0 percent. But i still have pollution from my roads. I don't want to cheat. I want to put in the clean air ordiance but I don't want my industry leaving (thte high tech industry). So what do I do? Please help. I have 701 000 people in my city and I'm only done halfway. I would really like some help. THanx.

    thanx
  5. Identical Subarbs and Neighbourhoods

    what's that modd's name?
  6. Sydney

SEARCH THE STEX. The stex will have everything you need. Type in Amp tower or Centerpoint tower, if there's anything it'll come up. Typing Sydney is useless because only the maps will come up. First you need to do some research on the city. Find the landmarks and the landmarks you want in your city. Then, type them out in STEX
  7. How do I achieve realistic-looking downtown areas?

High density commercial takes a longer time to grow, at least longer than high res. You need to have very good trafic flow. That is one of the main things. The big offices want to go where there is a good population. 50 000 won't do it. stage 8 will take about 500 thou., but stage 6 takes 100 000 and 7 takes about 250 000. Below those marks, and you won't see good pops. Make zones of 3x3. 4x4 is perfect for res. For commercial, just go as far as you can go. Commercial zones sometimes go up to 5x5 rarely 6x6. I have a couple of stage 8s and my pop is 701 000. And the stage 8s use mostly 5x5 or 4x4. It is good to put the tourisum ordiance. The businnesses love that. Sometimes, if your seeing a lot of abondoning, it could be becauese your taxes are two high. So it's always good to keep it a little low. I don't mean 3-4 percent, I mean 6,7. Hope this helps
  8. Identical Subarbs and Neighbourhoods

The title may be a little misleading. I am making a city in my LONDON region. It is the large city tile in the center. The city is divided by a river. I have finished the top half of it, including downtown and the main city. The lower half, I want it to be a mere subarb. But to make it like an authentic, realistic subarb, I want to make the houses in the subarb identical. I want a couple types of smalll houses so I can build little colonies/neighbourhoods. I hope there is some kind of BAT or MODD for this, so if there is can someone tell me. I'm sure there is, because I've seen them in a couple city journals where thte houses come in the same design or colour in one area. I'm not sure if they choose want type they want or it just happens, or if you zone a different way or anything. Also, If i cover about a fifth of a large city with small subarban houses RES 1, and all of them were used and occupied, how much population would I have. I know this is a lot to say, and yo're probably bored of reading, so sorry. Please help. Thanx
  9. Airports

I'm not sure what you mean but if you mean can there be one airport for two side-by side cities, no. Each city must have it's own airport to use. I'm not sure if there is modd or bat which changes the game and let's you play like that. So to my knoledge, I don't think there is anything like that. But if it was like that, it would a lot more interesting, because then the cities would have have to co-operate with each other. That is a good idea.
  10. In Sc4 and rush hour, there's only one sort of interchange (junction) for the highways. THe four way junction is the cloverleaf. I'm sure that there is a modd or bat or something that lets us choose the kind of four way interchange we want. THere is another kind of interchange which isn't a cloverleaf, it has more bridges instead, and that kind of interchange takes very less space. Sorry, I forgot what that kind of interchange is called, but I've seen it in a couple of city journals. I hope someone can give me info how to find any kind of modd or batt that gives you differnent interchanges to choose from, that would help. Even if you don't understand my small description, just give me info about any other kind of interchange. thanks
  11. Thanks guys. The NAM really does work good. I don't know why I didn't think of it.
  12. I don't understand the difference between ground and elevated highways. Ground highways are cheaper, but they say it is harder to find connectivity. I don't understand that, both types of highways seem to be hard to find connectivity. I used to think that elevated highways were the ultimate transportaion type. I alway used to put them in my downtowns and places that I thought had a lot of commute problems. But a couple of times, I put a ground highway into the downtown. It turned red, so I demolished the ground highway and put an elevated instead. I waited for about six months for the people to find the highway there, but then the highway still showed as red in the graph. Also, if you look in the thread "capacity of Avenues and highways", it shows the capacity of almost every type of transportaion possible in Simcity. It shows ground and elevated highways have the same capacity: 4000. In my city, that highway has 7892 commuters as the highest and 2012 as the lowest. I already added subway stations right under the highway. The stations are attached to the two roads right above and below the highways. The highway and subway goes straight through my city, horizontally. So, I really have a lot of trtafffic problems. Oh yeah, my subway is about red orange in the graph so it has a problem too. The roads above and below the highway is also in the red. It seems no one uses the other roads and the second highway I created which is adjacent to the first highway. Sorry for writing this much and you having to read this much, but I would just like to get an answer on what is the best source of transportation I should use. Thanks.
  13. Manage region tiles as cities or as districts?

Everything looks a lot more realistic when you mix the cities together. If you're trying to say that the region is like a country, county, state etc. Then you can make them as individual cities, but if you have a region that you're trying to make into a large city, just mix the cities. I used to play individual but sometimes, mixed is better.
  14. Official Mapping Community Requests

Could someone make a map that has a big city in it, with either large population or large skyscrapers? It would be nice if the region was Tampa Bay. Try and fill the whole region with cool stuff and then post it as a map. I'm sure it'll be great. Thanks
