Originally posted by: Arthuryazhemskiy i would like to start in a very small map, and as i gain more finances, i would like to buy adjacent land, in small incriments. Once the land is bought, it is part of the original map, this will allow for the player to create maps of any size from very small to a limited size. This limit has to exsit to stop the user from opening a map that will bring a cpu to a standstill. if you make the area around the very small map very tiny pieces, it will result in endless sizes and shapes of map types. Or you can just give us a huge hunk of land and let us carve a piece of land using a knife tool and it can be any shape we want, like using the knife tool in photoshop.quote> very good idea, maybe have a sort of "puzzle piece" at every end of the piece of land to extend to. Although some of it is already in City Life, i would like it if it would be "endless". The computer would randomly generate the extended land when you buy surrounding areas and you can change it buy putting in factors like a plain, valley, mountainous region, a river side, the coast etc.

Originally posted by: Jamonbread A few suggestions..I hate the edges of the city in SC4. Cheesey and screenshots at the edge of your city weren't very good. So I suggest showing the edges of the neighbouring cities so the cities blend and this would really come in handy with terrain too. I love the idea of creating your own cities sizes and shapes and options to expand later in the game. I felt the small plots in SC4 were pointless. I didn't enjoy making them and I just made them as fillers. I would also love to see regional rewards for example a nuclear power plant isn't going to be in the major city but in its subburbs. I suggest alowing cities that have an electrial connection to a large city be allowed to build one as well. Also I would love to see more government rewards. Large government buildings that have offices and employ. Have bigger offices available and more elaborate Government buildings as the region (not just that city) gets bigger and asllow only one of the bigger buildings in the region. I love your dedication to hearing us out I'm definetely buying this game even if I have to buy a whole new computer. I'm savin up. Thanks phillipequote> I can guarantee you, there will be no wierd/disgusting/shallow/empty void/hole/abyss/canyon in the outer edge of cities. In City Life, the background terrain were prerendered to a point with a static image of the appropriate background in the horizon. Even if you peered over to the edge you would just see a reflection map for the water, so it would look like water is on the other side. Of course there were no Neighboring cities in City Life, it would be a pretty good idea to include neighboring cities. Instead of rendering the neighboring city completely, set a low LOD (level of detail) image for that city. So from what i can see from City Life, there will be no "edge" that will kill the citie's look. Unless Phillipe corrects me wrong

Originally posted by: MedoPu don't want to change the topic direction, but I would like to say, I don't like the jobs depended on certain culture. Like schools only for red guys and police stations only for blue guys. Those are pretty much same thing for me, except building style. oh, and another thing, is when I build normal houses it is nice to see houses and that, but suddenly some houses are replaced by ugly ugly gypsy houses (the poor culture) which IMO ruins everything. quote> My Views: Red people (Fringe) are radicalists/liberals and often take jobs promoting creativity (Aka, these are the "hippies" of modern culture). The Blue people are the Blue Collar workers, they are those typical 1950's suburban family, patriotic and work for their country, taking jobs that are related to the government work force. (automative industry, Police Force, Fire Fighters, more Business-related jobs) Just my 2 cents on the red and blues And those poor slum houses do ruin everything, but its these game moments were you have to "do to get what you want" moments that makes this game interesting. In other words, if you don't like it, you can change it. Improve work conditions or build more Blue or Red influenced work places to change them. However it is annoying to have to do everything just to get a good living condition when a guy working in a business moves out causing a chain reaction. (Business less effiecient, living condition is bad, people who live around the building will move out, other business start losing employees, etc. results in major "Culture shifts") If anyone played City Life, they would get what I'm talking about. Usually i would just make a new slum house thats more pleaseing to the eye

Originally posted by: KeanoManu With parks.. Whatever MonteCristo do, don't remove the "custom" parks from City Life. Those who fills in empty spaces and that can be in any shape. Those where excellent!quote> yeah those were great! maybe more variety of "fillers" in the next game would be nice. Maybe some that terrain conform like the forest filler in City Life Deluxe

Actually, masochist, they were created in-game, using different roads, bridges, etc. They are created and editable in-game. So it's like creating a highway by only stretching road pieces across to the other one. Not very realistic, but it's creative and it still works. Those highways in those pictures are created without a "Angle to small" restriction, enabling more curve like intersections. and if anyone was wondering, i do not work for Monte Cristo, just a City Life Fan.
-
MrC, about creating a village, this is possible. wherever yuo want the village, build a cheap bridge, and from the bridge lengthen the road. Then if you delete the bridge the roads will still be there so you use those to create you village.

Originally posted by: Spinmaster Originally posted by: simcitic I remember there was a transport issue in CL at curves(not T intersections), the cars simply disappear. Will that be catered as well?quote> I'm just happy to hear there are curves. I have a question to those who have played CL ... is the "World Edition" an add-on pack i.e. the base City Life game is required? Or is it more akin to SC4 Deluxe i.e. one package = everything? I'm thinking about getting, just to check it out and whet my appetite for CU.quote> Spinmaster, the City Life World Edition is an Add-on to City Life (Base game) BUT you have to download it over the internet at monte Cristo's official site. The City Life Deluxe Edition is the Deluxe version, it includes City Life. The Deluxe version must be purchased at a store. I can't wait for CU!!!
